Please remove all of our correspondence. I've asked nicely and I've said I will change the organization or even delete the post. There's nothing else I can do.

Changing the organisation would be nice, but as long as you aren't actually supporting them, the main thing that's worrying me is that you are in a position of power over autistic people and don't seem to see that autism speaks isn't something you want to be associating with.

I haven't accused you of anything. You have repeatedly disrespected autistic people's identities. I honestly don't know how this could possibly cause you to loose your job though? Unless you show your boss your RP blog? Which seems kind of odd imo. How on earth is being called out on tumblr going to ruin your life? I think you might be being a bit melodramatic here.

I'm not going to delete the ask full of ableist stuff you sent me. If you say stuff like that you can't just make it go away. Or at the very least I'm not going to make it go away for you.

Please delete that post. I work very hard and if you got to know me you'd know that I'm one of the better ones. I respect my students and I don't not believe in curing them. Please you can ruin my career with that post. I didn't mean to insult you and I didn't know you had autism. I work very much from the social model and you've deduced me by two messages. It's unfair.

My url should kind of indicate that I'm autistic. As does my bio. And it says a lot about you that you automatically think that someone calling you out on autism stuff must be allistic, when most of the people who actually do that are autistic.

How hard you work has absolutely no relevance to anything. I don't want to get to know you, frankly, I want you to stop thinking it's ok to pretend to support autism speaks.

You were policing disabled people's self description with bullshit "people first" arguments. People who use person first language to talk about autistic people are generally not good, especially if they insist other people use it. Like you were. Oh, and I literally just stated that I DON'T USE PERSON FIRST LANGUAGE.  And what do you do "had autism". IS AUTISTIC. Like I just stated.

If you work from the social model then why on earth are you using person first language and insisting on it from other people?

I used Autism Speaks because Nikki Reed supports it and it's in character. I will change the organization if you just take down that post.

I have taken down the post. I did that with your first ask. Why on earth do you want to RP as someone who supports autism speaks, seriously? It's just really odd and suspicious for a special ed teacher.

You have no right to judge me or my life. You don't know who I really am or what I am about. You read one post and think you are an expert. I've dedicated my life to working with young children with disabilities. You run a blog where you think it's appropriate to use terms like Aspie and Disabled people. They are so much more than their disability. I suggest you look up People First Language.

[Context, this person teaches disabled kids and posted an rp post (which I reblogged not realising it was an rp post) talking about doing a fundraiser for autism speaks. I suggested that they not to, that, they clarified that it was an rp post and that they teach disabled kids, I suggested as a person in a position of power over disabled people they might not want to be talking about supporting autism speaks even in an rp]

I wasn't judging you or your life. I didn't say I was, I just said that talking uncritically about supporting autism speaks was not a great thing to do as a person in a position of power over disabled kids.

 I've dedicated my life to working with young children with disabilities.

*David Attenbrough voice* And here we see a prime example of the special ed teacher who teaches disabled kids, and is therefore under the impression that they couldn't ever do anything bad. They think they know exactly what is and isn't harmful to disabled people, and will assert their right to speak over people with said disability because they look after some children. Most of this species are of course, totally unaware that a significant number of autistic and disabled people have been abused by caregivers or teachers. They are, naturally obsessed with policing the identities of disabled people.

K, I've never said that I think "Aspie" is an ok term to use. Like, I'm fine with people identifying as an aspie, but personally I think it has too much association with aspie elitism to be ok for me to use personally. Stop policing disabled identities please. We can identify however the fuck we want. 

I suggest that you look up the social model of disability. Disabled people is the correct term to use for autistic people. it's what the majority of our community uses. 

WE, are so much more than disabled, yes, but jesus christ being autistic is part of our identities. Person first language is fucking offensive. I am autistic, I am autistic I am autistic. I am not a person "with" autism. It's not an accessory, it's not separate from who I am.

Person first language is not good for autistic people. If we are people with autism then people get this idea that we could be people without autism. And then people try all sorts of abusive "therapies" to try and "cure" us.

If you are a person in a position of power over disabled people you should at least know the basics of correct terminology and disability rights ideology so that you can respect your pupil's identities.

Pirates In The Park (Laurie&Nikki (and Winston)

Winston was always enthusiastic about things, but Laurence thought his song was going to tug his arm off. He kept wanting to know when Nikki was coming and he had to shush him to even be able to answer her texts. "She's in the parking lot now, Win. She'll be here in a minute or two." he said, trying to distract his son by setting him on a swing. The diversion worked and Winston was content to swing while they waited.

He'd been hopeful that she was free and figured this would be a fun way to introduce her to Winston. His son was a true actor's child, having grown up around lots of different people. He was also outgoing, as both he and Billie were so he wasn't worried about them liking one another. Winston rarely met someone he didn't like.

Hearing footsteps crunching the gravel behind him, Laurence turned, giving Nikki a beaming smile. "Hullo you." he said, reaching out a lanky arm and drawing her into a hug. "This little chap is Winston. Win, this is Nikki."

The boy popped off the swing like a cannon shot. "Hi!" he said cheerfully. Laurence ruffled his hair and he scowled up at his father, having to tilt his small head back almost all the way to see his parent.
