somehow, i made it past the cauliflower heads! it was the humans/stealth i had trouble with. it didn't really feel like easy mode. in mgs, there would be like two soldiers. it's a shame naughty dog does this, because their stories ARE good.

i can get stealth mode eventually, and i am pretty good at figuring out where / how to sneak, i don't even mind dying a few times so can scout out the area. what i mostly mind is that once i fuck up, it's all over forever, with no way to fix anything unless i remember the extremely (for me) complex string of buttons i have to press at the perfect time. i wish i could at least reconfigure which buttons prompt which action, but that is also an impossibility if i play on a console.

i feel like tlou is not actually that difficult on a puzzle / fight / cleverness level, but i literally still do not understand how to shoot a gun or reload or use health packs because all of these options are triggered by different buttons, and sometimes the buttons are combined prompts or timed. i don't feel like that improves anyone's experience.

i would like to see these stories i keep hearing about but atm i am pretty sure tlou is a story about 'WHAT DOES SQUARE DO AGAIN'

ugh well i'm glad i'm not the only one

it is imo really stupid that 'easy' mode doesn't take focus off combat. if you're playing 'easy' it's safe to assume combat is not your priority. i'm fine with there being no 'skip combat' button in games, but if gaming ever wants to be a medium that's considered 'art', it needs to be accessible to everyone, including casual gamers, or just people who just want the (hyped up) story, rather than forty images of joel getting his jugular ripped out by sentient cauliflower.

i agree re: finding a new doctor. i went to my surgery three times about my depression until i finally found the right person to talk to about it.

yeah, i've had to do similar things in the past because a lot of therapists don't understand how attention deficit works, among other things. it's a pain in the ass, but worth it when you find the right person.

in all seriousness though i am happy, i just felt embarrassed coming in in nice clothes when everything was covered in dirt and shit and everyone was wearing booty shorts and tank tops. I AM THE UNCOOLEST

what are you doing at rennfaire?? ive always wanted to work there

i haven't been assigned an official booth yet, but most likely i'll be working with some kind of food at a booth, or floating between food booths covering for people, or hawking goods. likely a combination of all three.

and you should totally do it! as far as i can tell, they are not very picky about new hires. just show up and smile and be prepaired to be outside a lot and work with large groups of people. unless you don't want to work in food-- most people don't, but it was easy as hell for me to get in the door, so shrug.

i was the most experienced person there by far (god i felt so old and poor when the group of middle aged women they'd hired all reacted in terror at the idea of using a sanitary sink to clean dishes) and everyone was shocked and amazed when i knew what a soda machine was and how to use sani towels, so i'm pretty sure anyone can get hired, jesus.
