uuhhhh I’m not super strong on endgame theories so I’m not even really aware of what is popular or unpopular! Like I know Euron’s eldritch apocalypse has gained some traction but I’m not sure it’s all that mainstream (and, as cool as it is, it is based on pretty flimsy evidence). I don’t think the books will end like the show aside from some very, veeeeery broadly defined plot points George fed to D&D - but again, I don’t believe it’s all that unpopular (unless we’re talking about - *sniff* - locals). None of my takes are particularly controversial, I’m afraid, and I don’t actively seek out endgame discourse so i’m pretty neutral about it, just patiently waiting for the next book to come out. I’m also the kind of person that likes to go into an anticipated book or movie as blind as possible, and I feel focusing too hard on trying to predict future developments in great detail only sets you up for disappointment most of the times, because the story you made up in your mind is likely to cater to *you* specifically - even if you try to be rational about it and not make it about wish fulfillment - in ways that the original author couldn’t possibly conceive. So yeah, perhaps my unpopular opinion about endgame theories is that they aren’t that important and sometimes even detrimental to one’s enjoyment of a story.
