Hey, tip to my fellow Missouri diviners - Missouri Evergreen has tarot decks too, not just books about tarot, although they all are filed in the 133 part of the system. Naturally, I'm waiting on a hold for three of them just to get a look at them and the overall quality at this point. Hopefully they're still in good condition, though I imagine not every librarian is going to count to make sure all of the cards are there.
So, my stepdad isn't a witch. Not in the slightest. But you know what he was (until he stopped)? A turkey farmer in middle-of-nowhere-Missouri.
I was talking to him recently about edible plants and such on the farm for my Farm Plant Grimoire and he went to his closet and brought a big ol' beefy book back to me. It was the 2004 edition of Country Wisdom & Know-How: Everything You Need to Know to Live Off the Land.
It's very browned and worn, and my stepdad said that his father (Gramps the Ghost) got it when they came down to Missouri.
It has stuff about dealing with animals (bird watching, making cat toys, housebreaking a puppy, building rabbit housing, buying and selling horses, and an entire bonus section about livestock, among much more), cooking (and canning food too), crafts (like making potpourri and soap), gardening, health and wellbeing (there's even a section on essential oils in a book that's from 2004), home stuff (like home repairs and sharpening hand tools), and a handful of appendices.
It's a lot of really cool shit, and if you're a country bumpkin like myself, you should definitely pick it up when possible. It's everything that cottagecore people are looking for, and it's helpful if you're trying to homestead.

Apple Correspondences & Associations
Apples (the malus pumila) are the witchy omni-food. Unless you curse people, it doesn't do that (until you cider it). They have a tendency to escape from cultivation (like many plants in Missouri) because people abandon them often.
You see, Missouri has winter, and then we have some spring, and then another cold snap winter which sweeps through and kills apples and other fruits. Because of this, some people choose to winter-proof their apple trees, but these methods are so expensive that people don't get any return on investment when the harvest rolls around.
So generally, there are a lot of abandoned apples.

So here's a fun fact. The juniperus virginiana is the eastern redcedar or just the red cedar, but it's also/actually a juniper tree - its other names include the eastern juniper, red juniper, or virginian juniper.
There's also the juniperus ashei, the cedar, mountain or post cedar, or ashe or blueberry juniper.
So while junipers are cedars and not all cedars are junipers (it's very confusing and you'll be going down a Wikipedia rabbit hole for hours), this post is focused on cedar correspondences and associations. Obsidian Correspondences & Associations
Obsidian is often made out to be one of those boogeyman stones when people (usually white antivaxxers who believe you can pray away autism, let's be honest) talk about crystal healing. Obsidian fucking slaps and people should recognize that it's awesome.
It's an igneous rock and volcanic glass. It's formed when volcanic lava cools with minimal crystal growth. It's hard, brittle, and amorphous, so it tends to fracture and end up with sharp edges. Historically, it was used to make cutting and piercing tools (even being used experimentally as scalpel blades at one time).
