Let me show you Christmas (Part 1)

Pairing: Dean Winchester x fem/reader
A/N: Kinda, sorta a sequel to “The Master in Tree Decorating”. I just had all these other fluffy moments in my head. Like, this is cavity causing fluffy! Let me know what you thought :) This is only my second fic with Dean and it’s xmas themed so it might be slight OOC.
A soft knock hummed through the bunker and shortly after Dean stepped into the room.
“Y/N?” he approached the girl sitting on the bed, watching something on her laptop.
“Hi Dean,” she smiled at him, putting the laptop aside.
“Sam just left for a hunt, shouldn’t take him too long, but that means we have the bunker to ourselves today,” he explained, crossing his arms, “I remembered what you said the other day about never having seen a Christmas tree before and you know what? It gave me an idea!”
Y/N had to smile looking at the grin on the hunter’s face. “What is it?”
“Since it’s just you and me for today, how about I show you what Christmas is all about?” The grin on his face grew wider and expectantly he threw his arms out, nodding into her direction. “What do you say, sweetheart? Let me show you Christmas.”
Y/N chuckled at the sight of him being so excited. “Why not? I would love to!”
Dean clapped his hands, grinning from ear to ear, before motioning for her to get up and follow him. He guided her through the halls to the kitchen, where she could see all kinds of utensils, cookie sheets and cutters splattered across the island.
“Are we baking?” she stepped closer to the work space.
“You guessed it,” Dean nodded, “what would Christmas be without some cookies?”
He grabbed an old beer bottle and some dough and started rolling out the prepared cookie mixture. Y/N chuckled and started doing the same and soon enough they both found themselves putting cookies in the shapes of stars, mittens and snowflakes onto the baking sheets.
At some point Dean had even turned on some Christmas music and the soft humming combined with the sweet smell of baked cookies wrapped them both in a warm winter feeling.
By the time they were done with their sweet treats it was already starting to get dark outside. Y/N was expecting to spend the rest of the evening in her room and watch more shows the humans liked on something called a Netflix, but apparently Dean had other plans.
“Thank you Dean, this was fun,” Y/N smiled up at the green-eyed hunter next to her.
“Oh, we’re not done yet,” he threw the cookie cutters into the sink.
“Nuh-uh,” Dean shook his head, smiling sheepishly. “I promised you Christmas, so there’s lots more to explore. Why don’t you do me a favor and grab a coat and meet me in the garage?”
Y/N nodded, not sure what to say. It seemed like Dean took it very seriously to bring this holiday closer to her and show her everything humans did around this time. She sure didn’t complain, she loved learning more things about what it meant to be human and how they spent their lives and most of all she would never say no to spending more time with Dean.
In the few months she had known him she had grown very fond of the hunter, she would even go so far as describing it as a small crush - at least that’s what Sam said it was when she told him about the tingling feeling she got around his brother and how her heart started beating faster every time he smiled at her.
Excitedly she jogged to her room to grab her coat and only a few minutes later she headed for the garage. Dean was already waiting for her, his tall body leaning against the passenger’s side of Baby, a smile spreading on his lips as soon as he saw Y/N approaching.
“In you go,” he opened the door for her and let her take a seat, before closing the door shut and quickly getting into the driver’s seat to start up the car.
“Where are we going?” Y/N dared to ask, although she already knew he wouldn’t spill the beans.
“You just wait and see, sweetheart.”
There was something mischievous about the grin Dean sported, but Y/N was happy to wait for whatever he had planned. They were driving through the darkness of the city for a while. Some houses had decorations up, others didn’t and Y/N thought to herself that she would do her own decorations for sure if she ever had a place herself.
Suddenly the Impala came to a stop and Y/N looked around. It was a quiet neighborhood somewhere in the suburbs of Lebanon. It was too dark outside to see details, but she could make out some decorations in the yard they were parked in front.
“What are we doing here, Dean?”
“We’re a couple of minutes early,” he said, “but it should start in just a bit.”
She could see him fumbling around with the radio, apparently he was trying to find the correct station. She didn’t put much thought into it though and kept on looking out the window.
All of a sudden Rocking Around the Christmas Tree was starting to play on the radio and at the same time the house they were parked in front of was illuminated with Christmas lights. The different colors were changing in sync with the music, every single inch of the property engulfed in colorful lights and patterns.
“Dean,” Y/N gasped, looking at the hunter next to her.
He could clearly see the surprise in her eyes, the sparkle that glistened on her face and the joy she was experiencing at this very moment. He was captivated by her beautiful appearance, the lights from the show around them casting shadows on her gorgeous self. Dean could only stare, he too was captivated by the moment, the music, the light show, her.
Y/N shifted in her seat, trying to get an even better view of what was going on outside, completely lost in the display. This was the most beautiful thing she’d ever seen in her life and for her it didn’t last nearly long enough.
Her eyes were still sparkling once the show was over ten minutes later. “This was amazing!”
“I’m glad you enjoyed it,” Dean smiled at her while turning the radio off. “I remember my mum taking me to one of these when I was a kid and I thought it was the greatest. I was only three but I never forgot about it.”
“What a beautiful memory.”
“It really is,” he nodded softly, looking down at his hands. “I’m glad I found one of these to show you. I was hoping you’d like it.”
Before he could reply anything Y/N was leaning over and embraced him as best as she could with the seatbelt strapped around her. He returned the gesture and was thankful it was dark outside, because he could feel the heat creeping up into his cheeks. He hadn’t known her for very long, but whatever she did made his heart beat faster and he had sworn a while ago that he would protect her and care for her for the rest of his life.
Dean knew exactly what was happening to him, he had experienced it with Cassie and then with Lisa. A part of him was afraid but on days like these he allowed himself to dream a little - to have hopes that one day he could be happy. Sure, Y/N was not like any other girls (she had been an angel until a few months ago for crying out loud) but maybe that was exactly what would make the difference in the end. Maybe Dean Winchester needed somebody extraordinary, was meant for somebody who knew about all the dangers out there, who was already part of it herself, who had fought a war before, just like he had done so many times.
“Thank you, so much” her soft words ripped him out of his thoughts and as soon as she let go off him he already missed her warm embrace.
“Alright, let’s get you back home and then it’s time for more Christmas experiences,” he grinned and started Baby and a moment later they were back on the road on their way home.
