still feeling a bit emotional about it all, but no one can stop me from having a little daydream about Eliza finally getting so fed up with rules and expectations and CONSTANTLY trying to prove herself to everyone around her that she thinks: what the hell, a place where "anything's possible" sounds pretty good, and adventures off to solve cases with Patrick 😌

Some more thoughts on season 5 from me so more spoilers below

There was no reason for the writers to write Blake in the way they did, and by that I mean literally making him this absolute perfect guy with no flaws who is seemingly always saying the right things to Eliza. Oh, let's also not forget that he also has a daughter, so he truly is without faults.

I honestly did want to like Blake. I really did, but the way they went about writing his character completely got in the way of that for me.

Everything about his character was simply an excuse and a way to force a romance with Eliza because they knew they couldn't do it any other way.

Even him having a daughter, which at first I was fine with because things like that do give a character more depth which I am fully in support of, but when you turn that into just another way of having romantic notions between Eliza and Blake out of nowhere then it doesn't work the way it's supposed to.

Sigh..... they would've worked so much better as friends. I just don't understand why they absolutely must pair her up with a new detective. Story wise and plot wise it just doesn't make any sense. Truly baffling.

Scarnash Updates S5

SPOILERS BELOW!

I just binged S5 on Passport. I have but one conclusion: Scarnash is screwed. Very, very screwed. Here's my proof:

There was very little Patrick

The Patrick there was regressed Patrick. Lying, non-communicating Patrick, not "I'll always keep trying" Patrick.

They had Eliza prioritize jailing a conman over keeping Patrick out of jail.

They had Eliza give her broke friend one week sharing her office and made him stay in a shitty boarding house rather than offer him a room at her place.

Eliza had NO ROLE in getting him out of prison.

They sent Patrick to Australia, rather than France. Less of an easy trip.

We didn't get any Ivy/Patrick bonding

We got no signs she misses Patrick when he is gone.

We got a lot of fond looks, but nothing like the romantic undercurrents of last season.

They gave Blake SO MUCH favorable treatment. As smart as Eliza. No sexism. No ego problem. Flexibility. Honest. Acknowledgement of Eliza's skill. Good father to a mini-Eliza. Bonding with Ivy. Bonding with Fitzroy. Bonding with Phelps (eventually). Lots of super clear romantic moments with Eliza.

The only consolation of this season's romantic developments is that Patrick will not lose out F***ing William Wellington.

I saw episode 4. Spoilers below.

I need to process and rewatch. I have a lot of initial thoughts about Nash’s character in it (it didn’t feel like Patrick from season 4), but there were plenty of good Scarnash crumbs and the goodbye was heartfelt and beautiful and it’s clear the showrunners love Patrick Nash, and I appreciate how they handled the goodbye given the direction they’re going in. It’s a better goodbye than with Duke. I’m hopeful we will see him again next season.

And yeah I’m crying. lol. I dunno. All my love to Scarnash Nation.
