Today our sweet friend Tim will be laid to rest! He was one of the most supportive, loyal and caring people you will ever know. People think pageants are just beauty contest, but they are so much more! It is were you can find your best friend, your role model, your support system and your second family!! I met Tim when we became local directors and I can promise you this he has been all the above. He was our biggest cheerleader and our voice as a local director. There will always being a missing piece of my heart with him gone. Workshop and pageant week will never be the same but we will make it the best we can for you Tim!! Well it is Saturday of Miss Tennessee Volunteer and one thing our girls do all year is serve their communities and their platform. Their platform is something that they are very passionate about and love to be apart of, they spend hours giving of their time raising money and awareness of their platform. So it is Friday, today we should have sat through our last rehearsal for Miss Tennessee Volunteer Week, and would have had a meeting with all the directors. This is the week that we as directors make so many memories and tell stories of past MTV weeks. It is the week we rely on each other to get through each day. This week we are not different pageants we are one, and by the end of the week we have our one girl that we will support all year as she reigns as Miss Tennessee Volunteer. We always know that if one of our girls needs something there is someone in Jackson that will take care of them if we are at work and not in Jackson at the moment. We are not a group we are FAMILY! In one way or another each and every director has taken care of us or our girls. It maybe as small as encouraging them, or as big as taking heels to them because theirs broke at practice. By Friday of Miss Tennessee Volunteer Week we have one tried little iris princess! Allie loves everything about this week. Seeing old friends, making new ones and being able to go to every rehearsal. She truly is the center of attention all week! (And she LOVES IT!) Each and every person that is involved with this pageant makes her feel so special and takes time to sit and talk with her, or basically do whatever she wants! ;) She loves the dancing, being able to walk out with the Miss girls, staying up late with friends and her favorite part is probably “Legacy of the Crown”! 👑👑👑 But today I want to focus on the future of this program. There are so many girls that have fallen in love with this program because of our iris princess program and teen program. (1/2) You guessed it!!! “It’s Thursday Night at the Miss Tennessee Volunteer Pageant”..........and once again 😔. So what is today’s theme? It is all about the ladies who have won the coveted crown and/or made a difference in this program. This is just a small number of ladies that have made an impact in my life and this program in one way or another. We always tell our girls little girls are always watching whether you have the crown on or not! Each one of these ladies have come in to our lives as a queen, but they remain in our life as family!!! Not sure where we would be without them!!! So thank you to each and every lady that has been in this program for making a difference!! . . We should be hearing “It’s Wednesday Night at The Miss Tennessee Volunteer Pageant”. But....we are not 😔, so for my Wednesday edition of missing the 3rd week in June in Jackson, TN. I give you my “Why”. Growing up I was either on the ball field or in the gym playing sports. (Hints my Go Team reply to EVERYTHING) But occasionally you would find me on the stage in a pageant. No I didn’t win them but if I was going to have to go and watch my sister, I thought I might as well get dressed up and be in them as well. So some are very shocked when I say I am a director of a preliminary pageant for the Miss Tennessee Volunteer Pageant. So for my “Why” because I sure don’t do it for myself and live a dream of wearing that crown through our girls. I do it for them. They are my “Why”, they are the reason we travel across the state just to get our hair fixed for MTV week. They are the reason we listen to them sing/play/dance/tap their talent song over and over until it sounds and looks great. They are the reason we raise money for scholarships so that they can be debt free (The Miss Fall Fest Pageants are one of the top Scholarships pageants in the system giving $3000 to our two winners, (if you would like to give call me I would love to talk to you about scholarships opportunities)). They are the reason we do what we do, THEM not me THEM!! So to all our girls, we love you and are so proud of you!!!! . . . . PS Thank You to the CornFest Board for your support! Well you can guess it, what would have been Tuesday of Miss Tennessee Volunteer Week is not, sooooooo today is focused of how I came to love this pageant in Jackson, TN!!! Her name was Ali Shumate and she was our hometown girl!!! To this day I can still walk in the Civic Center and tell you where I was sitting the night she won the coveted crown of Miss Tennessee 1995! I was just 9 years old at the time and I remember everything about that night as if it was yesterday! From each cut to the crowning to the Queen’s Ball, it was a night to remember. Thanks to Ali I feel in love with this pageant in Jackson, TN and I am not sure I have missed one since. Now I have the opportunity to give back to the Miss Tennessee Volunteer Pageant as a director! I am not sure if I would be involved if it was not for Miss Tennessee 1995, it was truly a life changing moment for more than just the girl with the crown on her head! Today I am so thankful for everything that night has given me, lifelong friends, girls that I will never forget and the continued support and friendship of Ali Shumate Fowler!!
