What’s Infinite like in the Hangin’ Out universe? Does he ever meet Shadow?
Sort of! This iteration of Infinite is named “Zero”
I’ve answered a little bit about him before, but for some context: In Hangin’ Out, everything past Sonic Colors hasn’t happened, or at least hasn’t happened the same way it has in the mainline games. Meaning, Sonic Forces never occurred.
This Infinite, Zero here, never got the Phantom Ruby, though he did lose to Shadow in a similar situation. What differs is that he vowed to not let his loss taint his ideals in the power of friendship and teamwork. He considers himself the ultimate mercenary.. only because he believes very, very, very strongly in himself as a team player.

oh god don’t get me started on localization differences. In Japanese SA2, it clarifies that Sonic let himself be captured by G.U.N. in order to learn more about Shadow.
The ones that always get me are the references to the events of the Genesis games in SA1, and also the much clearer explanations for some of the lore with Chaos and Tikal
