this isn't related to anything I've done prior, just wanted to see if I could translate a vignette from my head to page keeping the blocking/ shot editing close to what I imagine (NEVER doing this again wtf)

I will stand by my HC that the physical resemblance between Mira and her family (she and brother take after her mother) is Super strong (hard to distance urself from them when they are what you see in the mirror, also irony of being so close in looks but so far in perspective/ nature)

For context: There's a death in Mira's family (IDK who depends on how intense u want the characters to react), so her brother tries to contact M since she's effectively ex-communicato and wouldn't know. But since she's made every effort to be uncontactable by her family he has to go to a fan signing to tell her. They speak in Russian (I like to think they were sent to prestigious schools and learnt several languages to a decent degree, so he uses Russian instead of something like Japanese as he assumes Rumi & Zoey are far less likely to understand it) So the convo goes something like "We need to talk" "I have nothing to say to you" "[family member]'s dead, the funeral is on Saturday" leaves

Mira's obvs a bit rattled but doesn't want to get into it/ explain anything since in her mind her Family and Huntr/x are separate and will never meet so she says oh we went to the same school - technically true but u know not quite the whole picture. Also doesn't want to think about her Family in general let alone talk abt them, doesn't want to answer questions. BUT will go to funerals out of respect like damn. Shared a cigarette break w her brother after the ceremony, smoking the [dead family member]'s fav brand as a weird kind of tribute (smoking is a motif I will talk about in later posts maybe) Stunted conversation, a lot of history - also this is the first time together in years they've seen eachother (people change) etc

unfortunately spotted by the paps, then blindsided by it on a UK talk show during a press run for fashion week or smth Is not about to get into it on live tv so AI is an easy out. Only problem is that Rumi & Zoey connect the dots since they saw him up close

Also family's legal team scrubs the internet of any photos & videos of the incident since they also don't want the public connection

IDK I saw some clips of talkshows and damn do celebs get asked fairly invasive questions so casually good god

This plot is not anything really just something my brain entertained itself w while waiting in traffic

Also the establishing shot is pretty much a redraw of one of the apartment concepts from the ArtPost on Netflix full disclosure just wanted to see if i can mimic the lighting used

Dialogue is so hamfisted tho i was planning to do more panels which would take WAYYYYYY too long so instead opted for super awkward dialogue exposition lol

I WANT YOU ALL THE TIME.

hii i woke up and got a vision beamed into my brain and made this have fun guys. UM, COUPLE NOTES: 1. Redraw is of the Pork Soda Cuptoast Animation I love Ribbun and Bunnydoll ONLY in the context of it being portrayed as toxic, bringing out the worst in each other, and not being romanticized. The same actually applies for Bunnyteeth. I think because of Caine's, Gangle's, Ragatha's, and Jax's coping mechanisms and flaws, exploring their issues and how unhealthy it could become in a worst case scenario is really fun, and I feel like nobody explores it as they're scared of romanticizing it, and the ones that do explore it want to romanticize it. There's no winning. Where are my people. I think the fact that Jax, when reverting to a mindset that inherently made him become an abuser to reject the idea of him being a..yk..her, causes Ragatha to revert to coping mechanisms she'd only really had (implied) around her Mom and you can tell with her behavior in the flashbacks vs POST-Kaufmo/Ribbit-Abstraction. I also think exploring the concept of Abusive/Toxic Ribbun (again, without the romanticizing factor) is really interesting. The "WHAT? She likes that I'm mean to her!" When Gangle clearly doesn't. But what if Gangle never got close to Zooble? What if Gangle was isolated, or entered a "romantic relationship/situationship" (coughcoughabusivecoughcough) with Jax, beginning to exhibit unhealthy behaviors not too dissimilar to Ragatha's? OR, Bunnyteeth, which would hypothetically flip the Jax-Toxic-Abusive-Relationships concept on its head, making Jax more of a victim (who lashes out, and gets worse), where Caine is unknowingly (for the most part) abusive. I think it could be explored not in the "Caine puts Jax through the torture nexus" but more-so of Caine slowly slipping into an unhealthy obsession, not completely understanding yet what it's like to really "LOVE" a person. Believing Jax is "the only one that CLEARLY loves his adventures!" And forming an unhealthy, possessive, abusive relationship with Jax in the process. I am pretty sure the Babooshka animatic by PsuedoVillainz explores a bit of this. ALSO, I originally was gonna do this drawing concept with Gangle and Jax, so if anybody wanted a GANGLE VARIANT, just drop a reply and say you'd like to see one or something. I'm not sure if anybody would like to see one, but I would like making one if that's something people would be up for. ALSO I am NOT a healthy ribbun/bunnydoll/bunnyteeth hater, but i do think they're cute only under specific circumstances (i.e. Jax having taken the healthy route instead back then). They're not exactly my cup of tea in the normal-canon sense, but I don't think there's too muchhh of an issue...? I think..? Maybe I'm wrong i dont know.... UM... OH AND HERE ARE THE TWO SPECIFIC PANELS I REDREW:

Little things in Episode 86 that I'm not entirely sure people noticed (or even saw because Tumblr compresses the shit out of our panels smh) but I don't want them to remain entirely secret because I'm an impatient little freak who wants to brag a little and also see people losing their minds over this shit-

This is the first panel to trigger Apollo's suspicions! Imagine your girlfriend coming through the door when you THOUGHT she had been at home and sleeping off a hangover this whole time! But now she's wearing some mysterious red fur coat that she DEFINITELY didn't have at the party! (and would later appear in the tabloids!) This is probably one of my favorite panels in the entire episode, just because of how it's framed and lit. It's like a horror movie in daylight.

Getting Persephone's hairstyle, shade of lipstick, and jewellery / outfit right in all these callback panels took a loooot of time. But the fun of it was that it gave me the opportunity to redraw a lot of those old scenes! Some of them are so old that even Banshriek wasn't working on the comic yet 😭

Apollo is eating the breakfast that Artemis cooked in Episode 47! Let's just say there's a reason it looks like that- 💀😆

Remember this? Welp, if you guessed it was that time Kore accepted Hades' Fatesbook friend request in the middle of the night and Hades proceeded to write a love letter before putting a hit out on Alex, you'd be right, oop-

Now THIS one is a big oof. If you'll recall from Episode 66, after Apollo snatched Kore's phone, Kore went on to say that she was worried about Alex who hadn't responded to her texts or shown up to class. Which is indeed a problem that she's concerned with in and of itself. But what's shown at the end of that episode is that she was also being ghosted by Hades - and as we now see from Apollo's perspective, it was her texts with Hades that she was trying to protect.

Here are the text messages Apollo was sending to Kore while waiting to pick her up!

(and to the folks who are concerned he never left and just waited outside all evening, dw, he did leave after he dropped her off LOL his car isn't exactly discreet and he wouldn't dare get caught on Hera's property 💀😅)

From another person's perspective, Persephone's actually pretty frigging scary!

Sooo it turns out he didn't just send her dog pics. Therein lies the danger of those alluring late night conversations u.u

(also, all the timestamps shown in every phone screen and text exchange in this episode are accurate to whatever time was depicted during the original episode! formatting all the phone screens was easily the most tedious part of developing this episode LOL)

We never actually saw it in the original scene, but this was indeed the face Kore made when she said "I love you" back to Apollo.

Attentive viewers may notice the 'film grain' effects on top of the memories are absent in this final shot. We are no longer in the past of Apollo's memories, but in the present. Clotho and Lachesis are weaving new memories as we speak, and Atropos can be heard cackling menacingly in the shadows.

This is indeed the same outfit we just talked about in another post! idc what anyone says, that fit SLAYED (although I'm JUST NOW realizing I forgot her earrings and face make-up, oops-)

Ramblings under the cut because I like talking and you can't stop me! Includes a bit of spoilers for the fic :>

Okay, first of all, the fic was sooo good you guys have nooooo idea how hard it was for me to pick a scene to draw ToT

I ended up deciding on this one though, not only because it gave me an excuse to draw most of the outfits that I've designed for everyone, but also because I wanted to try and capture the joyous atmosphere of the party and Kendal's complicated feelings on the matter simultaneously. I thought it would be an interesting contrast to explore :> and also it's important to the core of the fic :>

That being said, outfit design rambles!!

First off, Alinua! I'm so sad that I couldn't find a place to include her in the drawing, but she was somewhere else during this scene so you guys can have an additional doodle instead. I really like making her hair as fluffy as possible lol :>

Going in chronological designing order, next up is Erin! I ended up simplifying the ruffly cape thing in the end because I just could not figure out the logistics of how it worked, but honestly the rectangular cape makes for a much cleaner silhouette anyways. Thinking back on it now, the first version would have been a bit hard to read, with all the flowy fabric going everywhere.

Next is Dainix and Falst together, I don't have as much to say about these two except I gave them matching bracelets lol. For all the beads and turquoise stuff in the final design, I was inspired by that one drawing of Dainix at a festival wearing a lot of glass beads and thought it might be fun to include that :>

Next is Vash!! I really liked the concept for this one, I was inspired by the line "I've had plenty of time to grieve. It's nice to remember" and was like hey what if Vash's outfit was a sort of memorial/tribute to the memory and history of his people soooooo you might wanna go take a closer look at the embroidery on his jacket in the final piece 👀 ignore the fact that I forgot his epaulette

Tess! Tess! Tess! I've been trying to give someone a suit-dress fusion this entire time and she finally gave me an excuse to do so!! Thanks Tess :>

Finally, KENDAL!! His outfit gave me soo much trouble I had to redraw him sooo many times but I loved the way it turned out! He's the main character in this fic so I wanted to make sure his design is perfect but the problem was that I didn't really know how to design tighter clothing and his shirt was described as hard to swordfight in soooo-

But it was a really interesting design exercise! I ended up settling on giving him a vest in the same style as Vash's jacket, with an undershirt made of a slightly shimmery/iridescent fabric, which also let me practice drawing stiffer fabrics (I really really like drawing flowy fabrics so this was an interesting change of pace for me). The goal was to create distinct designs for Kendal and Vash that highlights their individuality while still showing their connection to one another and I think it worked out pretty nicely. If I didn't forget the epaulette on Vash they would have made a complete set with one on the opposite shoulder each but I did forget the epaulette so uh welp. you didn't see that nope-

very interesting choice not to include this moment in the anime

naruto had just finished his search for tsunade with jiraiya, so they came to sasuke's hospital room to visit and so that she can heal him from the state orochimaru's bullshit left him in during the chunin exam. now, naruto's reaction to sasuke waking up and sakura hugging him is very interesting to me

the last two shots of his face are particularly intriguing to me. what's that look in the penultimate one ? is he surprised ? apprehensive ? he looks a bit shocked but there is an edge to it, his eyebrows are kind of scrunched, as if he is confused, or even a bit mad, feeling some kind of negative emotion, as opposed to them just being raised as they are in the panel above when he first witnesses sasuke awake and sakura hugging him. then the last one seems like a mixture of emotions - is he happy? he certainly looks relieved which naturally makes sense because sasuke is finally awake, but he also looks wistfu, a bit sad too. mayhaps resigned, or accepting, coming to terms with something? but then he turns and leaves the room. is he giving the lovebirds some privacy, is he jealous thar sakura is showing affection to sasuke or... could he be feeling left out and jealous that he's not the one hugging sasuke ? is he fully aware of this feeling anyway ? much to think about divas. i would not rule it out. i mean kishimoto himself has said that he spends hours drawing and redrawing panels until hes satisfied with them so they'd show proper emotions and whatnot. and then tsunade says this

right... she looks shocked at his deciding to leave the room. does she think naruto is touched and relieved and overcome with emotion at sasuke being well, so that that is why he leaves, so that no one will see him caring ? then naruto goes to ramen with iruka sensei and after a meal with him discussing rasengan, chunin exams etc. he decides that he should return to the hospital room and see sasuke again. hm. that did not happen in the anime. neither naruto leaving nor coming back to see sasuke

all in all, pretty open to interpretation obvi, and i do have narusasu tunnel vision to be fair, but it is an intriguing choice by the studio to alter this scene, is it not ?

happy birthday tim drake!!! only one day late, so not too bad! the final panel isn’t my favorite but I didn’t want to redraw it for the millionth time

I really love timkon, so this is my little dedication post to them. But also, I love the idea that they’re a high school situationship and they don’t end up together despite their love for one another. I just love doomed romances. I think mitski’s old friend really encapsulates what I think their relationship is post timber. this is from the perspective of kon, even if it is a Tim Drake birthday post because 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️. Chose old friend because mitski :) Now I am going to rant! I may not have much to say that’s unique.

the first line “we nearly drowned for such a silly thing” shows Tim and Kon watching a sunset while in their awkward closeted relationship. Not much else to say for that panel? They’re destroying themselves for a “silly” teenage relationship

then “someone who loves me now better than you” is alongside a photo of Kon and Cassie. Cassie is able to love Kon better than Tim is because Cassie is open about her love. Tim is closeted when he’s with Kon, which puts a strain on their relationship. I don’t like Kon and Cassie together, but I do love them as close friends. I don’t like the way I drew Cassie because I don’t think she looks as cool as she really is

“and that pretty friend is finally yours” is a reference to Tim getting together with Bernard, his high school friend. I used this cute couples photo I found on Pinterest as reference for them. They’re my everything. I wholeheartedly believe that bernard liked Tim from the beginning, but Tim liked Kon during his time at Louis e. Grieve. Something something temporary unrequited love. Also Bernard is absolutely playing up the straight man character during his time at Grieve because why was he talking about Dana like that 😭

“and I’ll be around on Sunday if you’ll meet me at blue diner” is Tim and Kon meeting up after timber(n) and talking about, as mitski puts it, nothing. They’re both happy in their respective relationships, but I think there’s this reconciliation that happens at blue diner
