Mist netting and Bird ringing along the Kinabatangan River, Sabah, Borneo Birds are caught and ringed as part of an ongoing study of tropical bird ecology within Sabah. Bird photographed is the Oriental dwarf kingfisher (Ceyx erithaca) (Behaviour seen is a well noted behaviour of Kingfishers during ringing and the bird is perfectly healthy and flew from the hand moments later)

Mist netting lab this morning! Caught a brown thrasher, two Northern cardinals, two field sorrows, and an Eastern towhee.

Woke up early this morning for some mist netting! The project I'm volunteering with is targeting tufted titmice, but we get some fun bycatch. We ended up with a net full of birds at one point, so we snapped some photos. Ended up with 3 titmice when the morning was over! Worth waking up for in my mind. Birds shown: Ruby-crowned kinglet, yellow-rumped warbler, blue-headed vireo, and an orange-crowned warbler.
