DO YOU GET ME!!!! HER POINT IS THAT SHE IS EVERYTHING CECILIA WASN'T... they look the same, they sound the same, they walk the same. but cecilia was kind, at her very core; willing to die so that more people wouldn't die. cecilia drew people in with her warmth, and gentleness. misteln comes into the world as just "schariac"— supposedly an "idea" of the family, of its very essence, but from the moment she is born she fails to fill even that role. her first emotion is curiosity— about the world around, full of wonder— and her second is sorrow. cecilia saved, or tried to save, everyone around. misteln's presence kills. cecilia died a savior. misteln cannot die, no matter how much to rid the world of the curse she sees herself as. CECILIA CONSIDERS LIFE A GIFT!!!! she wants to show sirin that the world is still beautiful, that not all is lost......... misteln hates the fact that she ever came into this world.

and from the moment that withering touch is lifted from her, she grows even further from cecilia, personality wise— she is not selfless, or beloved. misteln is a selfish being, in her own eyes at least, driven only by what she herself finds interesting— uncaring of how that impacts those around. she speaks in riddles and sarcasm and veiled malice. she actively admits to not feel empathy towards the people around her. SHE GOES FROM LIVING IN CECILIA'S SHADOW TO BEING THAT SHADOW!!!!!

anyway something ive been kind of thinking about recently. and this is 100% headcanon territory i just wanted to share. is mistelns authority over sleep. or rather, specifically how it connects with the Physical Act of her sleeping. because obviously, itd be easy & pretty logical to consider them tied in a way that, for example, the better or longer she sleeps the stronger her powers are. but, and as i said this is purely for my own enjoyment, i like to think of them as. reversed? so when she's at her "peak", if i may call it that, she can sleep Very well. too well. bordering on depressive episode-esque sleeping through entire days at a time. [well. "esque", but it'd fit very well with her time in siberia, no? a brief window of time where she no longer has energy to try and kill herself, so she just tries to sleep through it all.] and then post-salt snow arc, where her authority and connection with the stigma space is severely limited, to the point of making her functionally Mortal, it swings the other way into insomnia. so misteln is... happy, more or less, or has stability in her life at the very least. and where she used to spend days unconscious, she now cannot force herself to rest.

misteln being a clonegirl is such a defining aspect of her character for me...... forever living in the shadow of someone kinder and better than her. desecrating her name just by daring to be 'misteln'

its always funny to me seeing kiraeln content that characterizes misteln as the more possessive one because like. kira is Textually Canonically THE most jealous person alive and thats not even me reading inbetween the lines it is not subtext it is Text. misteln "you're the most jealous woman i know" schariac versus shigure "you know other women?" kira.
