Look at them in their wonky disguises :3
Over 800 chapters later, he finally gets his burning sword technique.
Even though Usopp’s hot sauce attack didn’t actually finish the fight*, that’s not really important. His major contribution was never raw power in the first place. He’s best at mind games that destabilize his enemies so the heavy hitters can get their shot in. The fluid and natural teamwork in One Piece is just so good.
Listen, I know this series is ridiculous. One guy turns into rubber, another one has exploding boogers, there are giants and dinosaurs and a duck so you big you can ride it like an ostrich. But a flintlock REVOLVER?

This is a neat fringe benefit of Mister 5’s power. It makes sense that he would need to be invulnerable to his own explosions, but having resistance to foreign explosions is a pretty big advantage.
This is an early hint that devil fruit powers can have a lot of facets and potential uses. Actually, the first was probably Alvida’s dramatic physical change after she ate the sube-sube no mi, but that was played more as a gag. It’s not exactly useful.
