Good and Bad

What are these “things” i might say? In simple good is doing deeds that are morally right and good is well , good. Evil is things that are morally wrong to do and well evil. There’s more to it - obviously you might say- well i say so too.

Firstly lets look at good , society likes you if you are generous , polite , formal , courteous , giving , warm hearted , helpful et cetera. All these qualities are - if looked at at its entirety - synonyms of good , not the word but the action of good , morality of good. But society has flaws and flaws are considered bad aren’t they? Why is society flawed? Because we are flawed , no one can be entirely good can they? Every day we commit some form of bad , which others are unaware of. Well now showing different images of yourself - even if the two images differ from each other even an atoms width (if it had one) - is bad. Now truth and honesty are also synonymous with good. If you have watched the movie or even read the book Cloud Atlas , it is quoted there that - “truth is singular , its versions are..mistruths” . Now this is a very bold and wise statement. If truth is singular what are the mistruths? -Mis is a prefix used when something is incorrect and generally relate to bad , loss or emotionally defecting . Such as mislead , mismatch , mistreat et cetera . Now this word “mistruth” leads us to another vital word in the battle of good and evil and that is : perspective . Everything depends on our perspective , the tastes of a sandwich depends on the perception or mind set of the person who is eating it , if a fat and healthy person eats it , he will find it really bad or good depending on the quality of the food he is subjected to , as he loves eating so he must have a want for new tastes (right?) , on the other hand a boy - homeless , hasnt-eaten-for-2-days boy- will devour it without tasting the sandwich and if he does taste it he will find the taste alien as his taste buds or generally neurons do not recognize the taste of the sandwich. The taste depends on our perspective generally. Now back to “mistruths” , we also view the truth separately based on our understanding of it and the amount of knowledge we have of it. Today in my comprehension test (which was also my inspirtion for writing this) I came across an example - in the text , it described a Nigerian girl who is arranged to be married to what her aunt and uncle call a “doctor” but when she gets to New York (her husband is American) she finds out that her husband is just an assistant physician and he is not fully a high earning doctor. Now here is the what I think are the “mistruths” the aunt and uncle said that the guy was a doctor , doctor = well earning man , that was their version of truth according to them. They did not know what the catch was , according to their perspective the truth was entirely that. So can that be considered a mistruth. They did not know , so we should not judge them , judging is *laughs* obviously bad isn’t it? So I conclude (this is entirely my opinion) that all truths are mistruths , and only the person who initially confessed or stated it knows the truth which is singular and untarnished. A child confessing to his mother of watching pornography , is speaking the truth and his truth is the one which we take as singular , now how his mother views the truth will differ based on her mindset. If she is religious she might severely punish her son, if she has not brought up the child in a good manner then she will view the truth as 70% bad and the other 30% she will blame on herself. So his mother - if she speaks to someone else of it will speak a mistruth of it based on the way she views it. Now back to good and evil , truth which is good , also ruins lives and creates depression. Doing good has disadvantages.The next thing on our list is generosity , another - as aforementioned - synonym of good. Generosity is a thing which can be taken advantage of. Certain people take advantage of kindness for personal benefit. A friend helping another friend is a fine example and many of us has experienced this as well. We should help but not too much. Suppose a friend asks you for a pencil, you give it to them with a smile on your face, the next day they ask you for a ruler AND a pencil. Still the day after that they ask you to share a textbook with them and every time you do it with the smile on your face. Giving a smile once is good so is twice , but thrice and that smile might as well be a banner saying : “I dont mind giving my stuff to people!” Or “I cant say no!” . That person you call a friend might become dependent on you for things. Suppose they go to bed smiling, having finished everything for the day tomorrow, then he/she remembers that he/she has forgotten to put something, or do an something. When this happens (and he/she might be lazy to get up) they will think “oh ill take it from (insert friend name her) tomorrow” and go to sleep. So being kind also has its disadvantages. So good is indirectly bad and bad is sometimes indirectly good. How is BAD good? All depends upon perspective as in the person’s morals , upbringing , experiences which define his sense of good and bad. This is all self explanatory , but i will clarify this for some of you juvenile beings out there. A criminal hearing about another criminal who has executed a brilliant robbery will take tips or applaud or be jealous of that person as he is a criminal and he has the mindset which is that of a person doing wrong things (i did not want to repeat the word criminal so many) so he will see the crime as ingenious whereas others will see it as a bad or where-is-society-going thing. Plus points for figuring out the rest yourself! Thus I conclude this epiphany with the words : sometimes being bad is good.

There is no good in bad is there? Of course there is. Again I must bore with all the perspective mumbo jumbo. It all depends on who gets the bad, and who gives it to that person. Criminal doing a bank robbery? Criminal side : good as he is gaining , bank side : bad and loss as they are losing, public : bad as almost all (many dont take interest) have high morals, other criminals : good and bad. Good for the smart ones who want to learn and bad for the good ones or the ones who want to be respected. All depends on perspective.
