Misty knows there’s something different about her. She’s convinced herself before that her attachment to this squad stems from its coach—and he’s handsome, alright. The most handsome man Misty knows. But she knows the way her stomach fluttered and her cheeks blushed when Jackie Taylor gave her a Valentine when no one else would. She knows that Lottie looks pretty with her hair up and witnessing Shauna’s sheer physical strength as a base makes her knees weak.

But no girl has ever really… appealed to her so quickly.

So powerfully.

Natalie stops in front of the tables with her arms crossed, brow arched expectantly, like she’s unimpressed. Unimpressed with the Yellowjackets cheerleading squad. It’s such a novel concept, it makes Misty’s legs quake.

Jackie smiles at her politely. “Natalie S?”

“Just Natalie works, thanks.”

Jackie’s smile tightens.

Misty bounces on the balls of her feet.
