It was a bright day in the Sanctuary, a sunny afternoon. Ever since everyone’s resurrections, most Saints were centered around rebuilding the Sanctuary, and the Silver Saint of the Lizard, Misty was not an exception. It just happened that today he had a day off. So after some whereabouts and a morning of obligatory socialization, the Lizard Saint was more than happy to enjoy his afternoon on one of the Sanctuary’s cliff reputed for its crow population. Misty liked this place. It had a beautiful view on the sea and was a very nice spot to watch the sun fall. Most people avoided it due to their discomfort toward the only human resident, the Silver Saint of the Crow. But Misty liked the company of Jamian. And so did Jamian, as he always let him stay. One of the rare people the lizard was confident in calling “friend”.
So that’s how Aphrodite of the Pisces, who was going about his business, found the young Silver Saint sitting on a rock bench and drawing whatever in his notebook. For the people that actually knew the both of them, the fact that they get along was a surprise. As the Lizard Saint was well known for his past over idealization of the Gold Saint, aforementioned Gold Saint’s friends knew Aphrodite was pretty much not fitting those expectations. To the point that when they first met Misty didn’t even think he could be a Saint. Which the older man didn’t take any offense from and was happy to help the teenager to come to terms with the realization he has been chasing and waiting for chimeras after their resurrections.
- Well, what are you doing here? Chimed in the Gold Saint.
Misty rose his head from his drawing.
- Passing time, he smiled, and you?
The Pisces got closer and looked afar, in all his Gold Clothed glory.
- Oh you know… DeathMask is waiting for me to help repainting one of the Houses we destroyed so I’m slacking off, he winked.
The teen rolled his eyes.
- Poor one, to have friends like you!
Aphrodite laughed.
- Oh don’t worry, a bit of physical work is not going to kill zem! But tell me, why are you, the Silver Superstar, alone on your resting day?
- I’m not on my own, there’s Jamian, the younger Saint pointed to another silhouette a bit further, Actually we spent most of the day together.
The Gold Saint wondered if the boy noticed how much his face lit up.
- You like being here?
- Yes, it’s nice…
The Silver put his pencil down to think.
- But truely, I don’t think this place would be as nice without Jamian… His love for this cliff and its inhabitants really add a spark…
His gaze lost itself in the ocean. The reflections were shining, the breeze was making the grass sway gently. The place was genuinely beautiful, even to Aphrodite, and in such sun even the crows’ cries couldn’t make it gloomy.
- So you find him… beautiful?, dared the older man
Misty giggled, and looked at the other teen, who was doing something ununderstandable and wriggling chaotically surrounded by crows.
- I guess you could say that, he smiled.
A time. Misty didn’t see the grin that crept on the Pisces’ face. Nor the two hands that were dangerously raised behind his shoulders. What he did see though, was the floor. Then the sky. Then the floor again. Misty kept on tumbling downhill, too surprised and unused to the uneven surface floor to get up. He only stopped when he finally collided with the Crow Saint. Now tangled in a mess of limbs, the disgusting odor of raw meat filled the lizard’s nose, finally indicating what the other teen was up to - feeding the crows.
- Im sorry!!! Panicked Jamian, trying to get up and frantically searching through his pockets for something to clean his friend.
Now that he was still and his ideas a bit more in place, Misty started to get angry at that backstabber of a fish. But as much as he was fuming, he didn’t miss Jamian doing everything he could to find something to help him, because the fellow Silver Saint remembered how much he hated stains of all kinds. The french boy felt his heart swell, the same way it did when Jamian would try to explain the differences between the crows so Misty could recognize them, the same way it did when Jamian would let him rambles about a peculiarly beautiful view, the same way it did when the both of them just sat together doing their own things… Oh. Misty exploded of laughter. He truly was an idiot, wasn’t he?
Surprised, the crow stared at the notorious for hating being dirty young man, not understanding what he found funny.
- Stop worrying, the sea isn’t that far! Kept going Misty, voice cristalline with joy.
“What do you mean-“ wanted to ask the British, but his thoughts were cut short by the other teen stripping off his shirt. Jamian wasn’t one to be easily flustered by nudity, but there was this thing: he tend to forget how beautiful the Lizard Saint was. Getting hit with his confident stance, the sun shining on his skin and golden locks, his bright smile… When he took his hand to jump beyond the cliff, Jamian sweared it could have been Yomotsu’s Maw he would have happily jumped too. As long as it was Misty who held his hand.
The cliff wasn’t too high for two Silver Saints, but the “for two Silver Saints” being an important part of the sentence, most people didn’t came on that little beach. The Lizard Saint, that already took the rest of his clothes off, was walking into the water. Jamian took a time, looking at the dirty clothes on the sand, and their owner. It was almost like Misty was a sun himself, reflecting the light… could such a shiny person really enjoy the company of some clumsy pest?
- Well are you not coming? You’re full of blood too! Yelled the Lizard.
The English got out of his contemplative state.
- Oh, um, yes I’m coming!
For the moment, it seemed he wanted him by his sides, and that’s all that matters. Soon is yet to come.
They spent the afternoon playing and appreciating the sea. It didn’t take them a lot to just enjoy the presence of each other.
Now they were just relaxing on the beach, each one of them lying on a rock. Jamian took a look at his friend.
He was beautiful, of course. His mind wandered on how some other Silver Saints talked about him… as if there was nothing else. Sometimes Jamian got sad about it.
The blond one noticed the other staring.
- What are you thinking about?
The crow adverted his gaze, a bit embarrassed.
- I thought… it is sad that most people only recognize you for your physical beauty…
The Lizard Saint giggled.
- Why would it be sad? It is the thing I take the most pride in, he smiled.
This answer didn’t satisfy his comrade
- It is sad because you’re nice! You’re funny! Not a too-good-for-the-commoner snob or a special prize shiny object!” He truly sounded upset, “You like rocks and cheese! You dislike car noises and stray trashes! Your laugh is clear and resonates a lot! Your- You-
Misty laughed frankly as the British was fumbling on his words. As silence came back, the lizard took some time to really observe his friend. The way the orange light of the falling sun reflected on his drying skin, his hand an elegant perch for the crows that dared to follow him down there. His sweet smile, that hid so many interesting things most people disregarded as “dumb” when it was far from it.
- Jamian, I love you. Romantically.
The concerned one turned his head so violently the crow on his hand cawed in outrage. The surprise was so loud on his face, Misty couldn’t help but laugh again. His laugh died when he noticed the furrowed brows of the Crow Saint.
- I’m sorry, I’m not making fun of you… the French man got closer, kneeling down next to his friend’s rock.
When he spoke again, his voice was soft.
- I really do love you.
The blond teenager couldn’t look at the other’s face.
- You don’t have to answer. Sorry for ruining the beautiful sunset.
The Crow hesitated.
- You know… Im not good at guessing what is “beautiful”. I did not even asked myself what was it or not before you became my friend, before you explained and made me see beauty through your eyes. And umm…
When he looked at his companion, the bright blue eyes that reflected the golden light made him lose his words. Again, as always.
- I would love to keep seeing the world through your eyes.
Misty blushed. It was the most beautiful thing someone ever said to him. And it was from his friend, nonetheless, his beautiful Jamian…
- I love you too Misty.
He kept on getting lost in those ocean eyes.
- Romantically.
And the sun got down, and the sky darkened, and the whole world could have disappeared as their lips met. They loved each other and that was all that mattered. A brief instant that meant the eternity to the both of them.
When they got up, on that cliff again, and they finally let go of each other’s hands, it didn’t have that linger for touch like it used to.
Jamian watched as his friend walked away.
- Misty!
He called, one last time. And the other turned.
- You’re the most marvelous thing that happened to me.
The Lizard Saint felt his heart swell again.
- And you’re the most beautiful thing that happened to me, Jamian.
And it was true.
