Imagine Loki escapes Asgard’s prison and is on the run.  He takes his Jotun form that no one recognises and hides on Jotunheim.  But though he looks like he belongs there, he knows nothing of the culture… except those fairy tales where the frost giants are monsters.  This leads to some embarrassing misunderstandings.  He tries to invent himself a past, because lying is something he’s good at, right? But he can’t say where he came from as he doesn’t know the names of anywhere.  He never studied Jotunheim and it’s too late to go and check the details in Asgard’s library.  So he says that he lost his memories and his family in the Asgardian attack.  This endears him to the Jotuns who all now want to take him in and adopt him. Indeed, he’s so well looked after it may be difficult for him to ever leave.
