Gaster set the cleaned plate on the rack and grabbed the wash rag, drying his hands as he turned to face Asgore across the kitchen counter.

The question had been at the edge of his mind ever since he’d stepped foot past the Barrier that had kept them sealed inside the mountain for thousands of years. He had been so eager to ask it, if Asgore had believed somewhere in his Soul that they would be free one day, or if they were doomed to be sealed forever.
