biologists, in front of potential donors/people they want to impress: Ah, yes, I’ve been studying epilepsy in the model organism drosophila melanogaster. We’ve manipulated the flies’ genes such that we can view calcium levels in their glia bla bla bla other technical jargon that even they can barely understand.

i used to be an ALL CAPS ALL THE TIME type of person because i was super enthusiastic and full of the stubborn drive needed to get where i am today, but then something Bad happened and it knocked the wind out of me emotionally, and i felt like any enthusiasm was misplaced, and typing in all caps and being loud and excited became draining instead of energizing. and i spent an entire year trying to get back to where i was before, but i just... couldnt. there was too much pressure and too many things connecting me back to the Bad thing. but then i left. i went to college. i refreshed myself with learning, i made new friends who love me and want me around, and im not who i was, but at least ive found a place where i can be LOUD again.
