Although Mitch Downe is a fictional character in the movie “ParaNorman”, he represents a break through In LGBT history. He is the first character in a major animated movie to be openingly depicted as Gay.

In the movie produced by Laika, Norman and his best friend Neil must confront ghosts, witches, and zombies. They do it with the help of Norman’s older sister Courtney, and Neil’s older brother Mitch. Mitch is depicted as a tall, overly muscular high school jock (voiced by actor Casey Affleck).

When Courtney flirts with him and suggests they go see a movie together, Mitch replied:
