Hi! I’m excited to share that I directed Paranorman short called “The Thrifting”! It will be screened this Halloween, alongside with the original feature theatrical re-release!
From Laika, in collaboration with Passion Paris, it is written by Chris Butler and starring Anna Kendrick & Finn Wolfhard - it was an absolute dream to make. I had the chance to work with an incredibly talented team, and I can’t wait for you all to discover it.
The beautiful poster was created by the amazing Woonyoung Jung!
Preview of the artbook "LAIKA: The Magic Behind a Stop-Motion Dream Factory: Two Decades of Groundbreaking Animation from Coraline to Wildwood" (coming next week)
"Can you believe people with "MULTIPLE IDENTITY DISORDER" identify with "Paranorman (2012)? What about real child trauma would end in some dumb delusion like that? Real kids just take the punches."

Hello Everyone 👋🏿😁. We're a small indie art group of 3 currently creating a comic called Class Of Clairvoyant! Some of you may be here from our reddit when we started to upload our art there a few weeks ago; and saw an iteration of this post (We Updated Tae, and did Grammar Fixes for this one). Some of you may be here from when we first started putting out art for this comic years ago (Thanks for still sticking around ❤️!)
For everyone else that is new to our page or this being your first time seeing anything from us; Welcome to Empathetic Society! We create comic's, arts, stories, and animations all with the focus of making content that not only engages our imagination but also educates.
Our first main comic is Class Of Clairvoyant designed to be a comic for kids, teens, and adults to have fun adventure with, while also talking about different and real circumstances that kids go through mentally, physically, and emotionally.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is a coming of age story and fantasy inspired by movies, comics, cartoons, and manga's like: Paranorman, 90's X-Men, Adventure Time, KND, My Hero Academia, Gravity Falls, Craig of the Creek and Hunter X Hunter.
We wanted to capture the colorful, fun, and imaginative energy of what it's like to watch a saturday morning cartoon, while also having the focused world building and character development that comes from a fleshed out story with growth, consequences and stakes. We want our stories to always have something that you can take an apply to your everyday life to help improve it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So we wanted to make a world and story that took away the scariness, or confusion of where to start when engaging with some of the topic's mentioned earlier; while also creating a space for kids and everyone to grow with these characters and see themselves within them.
TL;DR:
If you like the 🖼 Imagination and 🎨 Vibrancy of stories like:
•Adventure Time,
•KND, and
●Strange Academy
If you like 🎭 Grounded yet 🧙🏿♂️Fantastical Story Telling of stories like:
●ParaNorman
•Coraline
•Avatar The Last Airbender
If you like 🤹🏿♂️ Diverse Ensemble cast of characters with Unique Abilities that focus on Teamwork Like:
•My Hero Academia
•Teen Titans
-And Lastly-
If you like Mysteries🔎 similar to "Puzzle-Box Storytelling" centered around clues and world building like:
•Gravity Falls, and
•Hunter X Hunter
Then stay tuned because we have a quite literal world of adventures and stories to show you! 🌟🌏
Our Mini Comic is posted on our page Here if you'd like to check it out and get a glimpse of our world.We'd love any feedback, and look forward to answering any questions you guys might have about the character designs or story (within reason).
Here's a small blurb that we have to help kick things off:
In the new town of Queen Anne's Lace, families far and wide travel in hopes of starting new lives and obtaining better opportunities. But their "new" home feels eerily lived-in and hastily abandoned. Separated from the neighborhood by a strange, creature-filled forest sits the school—and within it, holds an isolated and specialized classroom. Here, an ensemble of anomaly-powered kids have been mysteriously cherry-picked from the student body, guided by a solitary teacher who acts as if she's been waiting for them all along.
As these students try to find their footing, their daily routine involves wrangling the woods' supernatural entities for extra credit and protecting their strange new home. But they'll soon discover that learning to use their powers responsibly goes hand-in-hand with understanding the complex world around them—especially when they realize the creatures in the forest are just the first clue to uncovering the towns deep and eerie secrets.
Look forward to and comments or feedback, Thank you all 😁🙌🏿!
