Life itself, she thought, as she went upstairs to dress for dinner, was stranger than dreams and far, far more disordered.

hello people who like Elizabeth Goudge:
have you tried Jan Karon’s Mitford series?
I just read the first book, At Home in Mitford, for the first time and it’s basically an American take on the small country town vibes set in probably the 80s or 90s (semi-concurrently to when it was written), and the main character is an (Anglican, I think?) church leader, and it’s just absolutely lovely and comforting and edifying and I think you’d like her if the series continues as well as the first book did
Daphne Guinness shot in black and white - Daphne Guinness [2/3] :
The Honorable Daphne Guinness was born in 1967, the daughter of brewery heir Jonathan Guinness, Lord Moyne, and Suzanne Lisney. Her paternal grandmother was Diana Mitford, one of the famous Mitford sisters (a post about Diana will follow soon). She grew up in stately homes in England and Ireland, and spend her summers with her mother in an 18th-century former monastery in Cadaqués, Catalonia, where the neighbors included Salvador Dalí, Man Ray, Marcel Duchamp, Dieter Roth, and Richard Hamilton. She first married Spyros Niarchos at the age of nineteen, the two had three children together. After her divorce in 1999 she resumed her maiden name and slowly transformed herself in the style icon she is today. She became great friends with the late fashion designer Alexander McQueen and the late fashion editor Isabella Blow, whose entire wardrobe she bought to preserve her friends legacy.
