guren's squad and their loyalties

There's a lot of contemplation and criticism revolving shinya's willingness to still help guren after everything but in truth, if we're pointing fingers at followers, the rest of guren's squad is guilty of the exact same thing. Their love for guren blinds them all and while I always love seeing shinya interact with guren, I wanna see more of him and the other squad members questioning what it is that they're doing. Because its pretty obvious that shinya has his reservations and I can only imagine that the others do as well. But they're all kind of stuck in this position where they have no choice but to go along with guren, ferid, and kureto. They don't have all the pieces to the puzzle and they have very few other options. I think they realize they're kind of being jerked around by both the situation and their connections to guren. I wanna see them talk about that a little

Shinya is the one who is the most blatantly disturbed by everything and the one who's the most outspoken about his doubts. Morality and being a good person is something that shinya has had to struggle with since the hiiragis took him, he's not likely to just decide to throw that all to the wind. And despite his multiple crisises, going by his past choices, shinya's unexpectedly the most likely to break free and do what he feels is right despite what that will mean for himself. Goshi, I think, is the one most likely to side with shinya should that occur with mito as a close second. Their relationships with both guren and shinya are based purely in trust, something that guren has broken and shinya has not. Goshi has always had a bit of a protective nature and an easygoing heart. He's probably the most morally shocked by everything. Goshi and shinya are similar in that they don't really worry about what their actions will do to their family names so they are free to think as they want. Mito, on the other hand, is very deferent to family standings which holds her back sometimes in expressing herself. However, she also has a very strong sense of justice. Those three are more objective than shigure and sayuri. They're the two that might hold out faith in guren no matter what he does. They were raised to perform their duty to him and he's always protected them in return. They do genuinely trust him but their loyalty to him is very much influenced by how they see themselves as bound to him. Both also have a very black and white view of what loyalty is. Still, they probably have some questions

Although, ultimately, they might all be extremely hesitant to actually move against guren. They may verbally disaprove but guren is... inexpicably magnetic. And to top it off, he's someone they've loved and trusted for a long time. They all put him on a pedestal to some degree and it can be hard to admit that maybe the person you loved and looked up to wasn't too great all along. At the same time, everything that's happened since the nagoya mission is in direct conflict to what they've come to understand as right.

To add to all that, they don't really have too many other options but to go along with it at this point. Regardless of how everything started and who pulled what strings, their options for stopping the end of humanity pretty much start and end with guren and kureto. Especially because they're pretty much the only ones who don't know the whole story.

It'd be interesting to see them talking about that together, trying to pull the pieces together and figuring out that something doesn't add up

"Guren is a selfish asshole"

Selfish? More like selfless? He puts his life on the line just so his friends/comrades won't get hurt. He's willing to sacrifice his humanity just to save the ones closest to him.

"Guren is manipulating and using Yuu"

This is is the one I've heard all the time and gets old and annoying. Yuu knows what Guren is planning but has said multiple times that he don't care if Guren USES HIM. Yuu wants the same thing as Guren basically and that's to live in a world full of peace no clans stepping on other clans because of their power. No seraphs. No vampires. No chaos. No death. Which is why Yuu is willing to help him resurrect humanity.

These arguments and fights have have got to stop people. I've preached this over and over again almost to the point that everyone is probably tired of me saying it but I will keep saying it. Also I want to say that just because you STAN a character you should never let someone directly attack you for liking that character. Fandoms are suppose to be a place where people from all countries can come and discuss what they love instead of the fear of being ship bashed or being directly attacked for liking a character. I know I went off on a tangent and I apologize but this has got to stop. I can go a lot more into depth about the flaws and shit people say about Guren and gives examples and all but I'm running low on data so this is it.
