*rubs the scar on my forehead that gives me an inherent connection to the wilderness* The foils between Mahiru and Shinya that dictate the course of the guren ichinose light novels even as Kagami never directly explores their relationship or even either of them as characters that exist outside of Guren .... Mahiru's arc in cat16 being about how she was being Changed and slowly corrupted from the inside as she sought to upend the world herself, while Shinya's was about exploring his sense of self and not letting the world change or jeopardize that to the very end ......... Mahiru having to succumb to the Powers That Be even if it's just to enact her grand plan while not even God's world-ending taboo can wake Shinya up after he's already chosen to die ....... Mahiru telling Guren he has to get stronger while Shinya tells him to stay weak if it means he'll stay as Guren ........ Shinya being physically restored but not being in the same place as Guren mentally due to the conditions of the Resurrection, while Mahiru no longer has a body but is fully conscious with Guren, and both of them haunt Guren as dead-but-not-gone figures regardles ................

Their designs are so ass in the vampire reign manga and anime that’s whole other can of worms I’ll get to in another 5 years.

No one acknowledges that Goshi canonically isn’t a natural blonde and bleaches his hair it actually annoys me so much that they completely ignored that in VR

When I get around to Gurens redesign idk what eye colour to give him cause obviously his purple from the anime is what he’s known for but they were supposed to be black and are in the prequels…

It's not just me who feels like the Guren Ichinose: Catastrophe at 16 novels are aggressively heterosexual compared to the Seraph of the End manga, right??? 💀💀💀

Honestly, I'm so disappointed with some people's perception of Mahiru. I knew most people didnt read ons that carefully, and its normal for them to miss stuff, and ofc mahiru does come out as villain-ish and violent to them, as that's part of her character story. But I cant believe people really think she really did all that just to be a "villain" person. I cant believe that some people cant even imagine her actually being a good person?

Like yeah you still dont have to like her but isnt it obvious that she's on the "Hero" side of the story vs the "Villains", at least in Vampire reign (though Yuu and Mika are on the "villain" side rn). No this didnt just happen suddenly. She's always been a "hero" of the story, and that's the same reason she was the "heroine" of Ca16. And i'm saying this as a gureshin shipper, hello, my name here is literally gureshinlover.

Tbh I dont care what most people think, but i'm just disappointed that people i've known and discussed about ons together for years are actually showing such a low level of understanding for Mahiru. Some peple need to turn off their bias and reread ca16 maybe, idk.
