Last Line Tag

Hey y’all! I was tagged a little while ago by @loopyhoopywrites to this tag game, thanks for the tag!!!!!! Below is the last bit I’ve written for MIU, so I’ll also be adding my taglist below the cut~

“Good of you to join us,” he says with a wave of his hand, probably doing away with the enchantment. I squirm in my seat, refusing to meet his eyes. I remember my outburst, my anger at being interrupted. Sure, I shouldn’t have yelled because he’s the headmaster, but… I could feel the spell working. And he completely trashed it. He ruined my last option at finding Dalia, and for that I can’t be sorry for what I had said.

Title: “The Magic in Us”

Genre: Fantasy, lesbian romance, young adult

Summary: Leiah is a struggling witch with Inferior parents, parents who had sent her away in order to have a chance at getting into the elite Vautia Academy. Dalia is a pureblood witch with a heart of gold. From day one of the academy, Leiah and Dalia have been inseparable.

However, during a tutoring session, Dalia has a vision that has her running immediately to those in charge to warn them. Next thing Leiah knows, her best friend and crush has disappeared, and she’s left truly alone in the academy. That is, until she, too, disappears, and she finds out just what has been going on behind the scenes…

“I wouldn’t worry too much, Leiah,” Professor Rilyn says, smiling a smile identical to her brother’s save for the warmth in it. “I’m sure she’ll be found soon.” I frown at this, shifting on my feet. I can’t meet her eyes as I speak.

“But... Inferiors have been missing for months because of this fog. What’s so different now?” Some sick part of me wants her to tell me what I know, that it’s because now that it’s a treasured Vautia student is why it matters. No one cares about the missing Inferiors, but a golden witch child? Well, then that’s the end of the world.

Bitter bile rises in my throat, and I can’t stand to be in there any more. I turn on my heel and leave, too much in a hurry to be bothered by how Professor Rilyn calls after me. Tears sting at my eyes, but I forbid them to fall.

Stupid double standards, stupid Inferior blood, and stupid, stupid love for the golden witch.

Hello! Hapy Storyteller Saturday! What are the favourite colours of some of your main characters? Do they match the colour scheme/aesthetic you have associated with them?

Heya, happy STS!!

I definitely try to get the aesthetics to match the characters’ favorite colors, if I can help it. Or, at the very least to complement them. So, for my WIP Magic in Us, for example, the post introducing Dalia has some sparkles, purples, blues, and such. Dalia’s favorite color is the color of the sky when there’s no clouds and there’s just the faintest film Something Else over it, making the blue a shade paler.

Some other of my main characters’ favorite colors are a deep emerald green and gold for Aria, the lead in Irregulars. My lead in Trials of E & I has an absolute adoration for the more natural shades of green, as well as the autumnal hues of oranges and reds.

As I pass through the halls, I see Headmaster Rilyn overlooking the students. He’s perched atop his own stepping stool, a porcelain cup of tea in his hand. He smiles down at us all in this makeshift kingdom of his, though his gaze is distant. His expression is serenely calm, the smile blissful. I wonder what he’s daydreaming about now, what kind of odd little power trip he’s concocting for himself.

There’s no telling what exactly is going on in that head of his...
