As we rewind and check out a mini-vid we created for MAKETRIBE's Knife-to-Table event (along with our larger collaboration piece), we are pumped for the future of mobile video creation. The makers of YouTube have come out with an exciting new option, MixBit. Encouraging the spirit of content and the sharing of stories, this new video platform allows users to edit footage right then and there, using anyone's content, and allowing for longer, medium-length videos. A new door opens for storytelling future!

El vídeo está de moda, o mejor dicho los micro vídeos. Tanto que aplicaciones como Vine o la reciente inclusión de la grabación y publicación de vídeos en Instagram están ganando usuarios por día. Ahora llega una nueva apuesta, una vuelta de tuerca o mezcla de ideas interesantes llamada Mixbit.
Mixbit es la nueva creación de Chad Hurley y Steve Chen, ambos cofundadores de Youtube. Su funcionamiento básico es sencillo, podremos grabar clips de hasta 16 segundos. Vale, un segundo más que Instagram y once más que Vine pero no es ese segundo lo que destaca de Mixbit. La aplicación incluye un aspecto social curioso e interesante a partes iguales: podremos usar y mezclar los vídeos de otros usuarios.
La idea de la aplicación es compartir nuestros vídeos con otros usuarios tanto para que disfruten viéndolos como para que puedan usarlos en sus propias creaciones. De forma que un “buen contenido” se pueda mejorar con la inclusión de otro. O al menos sirva para realizar recopilaciones entretenidas como las que ya invaden Youtube.

With Mashup DJ you can create your own musical masterpieces (ok so it really depends on how good you are) by mashing up tracks from different artists. The app has two different editing modes, so you can choose to drag-and-drop or simply tap depending on your ability.
Book
From the makers of the award winning Paper app for iPad, which has been downloaded by more than 8m people, comes Book.
Book enables you to bring your original digital creations to life, taking them from the screen to the page of your own custom made Moleskine notepad. If you still have a soft spot for paperbacks and well, paper in general, then you’ll probably be a fan of this app. The makers, FiftyThree, say that those who still use paper to create have “a deep appreciation and admiration for the creative process”.

MixBit
MixBit is a free app that comes from the creators of YouTube and lets you record, edit and share videos straight from your mobile. Videos are split into clips of a maximum 16 seconds in length for easier editing, but they can be strung together and play seamlessly for around an hour of total.
Looptical
Another one for music makers, the Looptical iPhone app is a mini mobile studio for musicians. You can record and mix up to 24 stereo tracks, create loops and share them with other apps. Its creators, MooCowMusic, describe it as a “recording studio in the palm of your hand”.
