Haha, I’m not big in the gaming world either, thanks for making me do some research! Turns out “it is more common to see a blue hedge hog as the protagonist in a game now a days than a diverse character.” (http://boingboing.net/2015/06/04/gamessowhite-hashtag-attempts.html) Then other people are saying that video games are diverse, but also very stereotypical. A third group of people are arguing that the people saying the games are not ethnic are not ethnic people anyways, and they should worry less about the characters skin color, and more about the character. (http://www.breitbart.com/london/2015/06/04/gamessowhite-attempt-to-inject-identity-politics-into-gaming-a-predictable-failure/) So I do think that it is common, but with all of the sources saying different things, it is hard to tell for sure!

I did some research, and it turns out that even though the gaming world is probably not as diverse as it should/could be, many cites are saying that it gaming world is more diverse than ever before. Sure the gaming world is a new world, but steps are moving forward. I noticed an equal number of people angered by and supporting the hashtag to be honest, but I think that it is positive. The fact that it is putting this idea into the minds of gamers will lead to a more conscious group of gamers in the future, and that is important to leading to improvements. I think the people angered by the hashtag were more on the defensive side, and I think that is okay too, as long as the idea is out there we are on the right track. Many big corporations were tearing the hashtag apart, but other websites say that those companies are 100% white males. Then again, a lot of the gaming population is Asian and Black, and they are split on their beliefs on the subject. (http://www.breitbart.com/london/2015/06/04/gamessowhite-attempt-to-inject-identity-politics-into-gaming-a-predictable-failure/ ) So can I answer with that it has cause more arguments and also been positive? haha
