old mixtapes shirt. left is a pocket print and right is a back print
Hey! Check out Massive Nights first single. They're a new group from Cincinnati consisting of former members of Small Time Crooks and Mixtapes! Give it a listen bc you're gonna wanna dance and jam it w your friends! Reblog this and help get their name out! They're great people!
Here is a beautiful thing that happened yesterday.
Jams with old friends who love the same music. I show up: I'm late, amps blown, short a wire, no where to plug the microphone in, out of tune, broken strings. All things seem like this jam just shouldn't happen.
Pick up the best sounding acoustic guitar my friend Billy lent me, pick a song that means the fucking world to us all (above) and jam.
Three dudes, screaming, and I mean screaming, every single damn word to this song. Just us, the drums, and somehow in the back the acoustic four chords to this beautiful description of life.
This is a moment I won't soon forget. Mostly due to my lost voice.
Do what you love... and fuck the rest.
a big dumb rant about mixtapes
I thought about sending something like this to Ryan and Maura respectively in the form of a facebook message or something but then I got to thinking about everything I wanted to say and there was just too much. I can still remember the first time I ever listened to Mixtapes, I didn't like it, but then one day (as so often happens with bands I like) I realized holy shit this band is awesome. I knew then they would probably be big, and had the potential to even be radio popular if they wanted to be. At the time I never thought they would become my favorite band, but they did and they became so much more, they became some of my best friends. I can remember every Mixtapes show I've ever been to, I was indirectly responsible for their first Atlanta show ever. I can't say Mixtapes saved my life, but they definitely made it a lot more interesting. if not for Mixtapes I probably would have never gone to stay sweet fest in 2012, the first time I ever traveled away from home with friends, and the first time I had left the state of Georgia in 6 years. I probably would have never gone to fest, and I definitely wouldn't have gone to warped tour-- twice. I don't think I can ever say how much it has meant to me to be a part of this all these years, and I do feel like I've been a part of something, maybe its because I'm on a shirt maybe its just because I've seen them so many times. Somehow i always knew this would happen but i still wasn't ready. I don't think I will ever be able to express in words how much I'm going to miss this band now that they are gone and I just want them to know if any of you ever come to Atlanta as part of any other band, you'll always have at least one person at the show. so one more time, from the bottom of my heart, as I choke back tears typing this, THANK YOU MIXTAPES [CLAP CLAP CLAPCLAPCLAP]
ok who has pictures from mixtapes' show last night at lucy blue?
