TheMeccaofRhymes Exclusive: BANNED Spotlight Artist MIYA BAILEY

Miya Bailey is legendary artist, whether you're discussing tattoos, paintings, illustrations, entrepreneurship or humanitarianism. I set up an interview with Miya Bailey and when I got the confirmation that the interview was a go, I immediately pulled over at the nearest rest stop and gave him a call while driving down I-85 south. Since the age of 2 Miya discussed how his mother kept him sharp in learning the arts and becoming an artist with no particular influence beforehand. What separates Miya from other artists? His ability to outwork them all, he says.

He once sold his original artwork for as low as some of the newer artists are selling their prints and sold out immediately, he believes the prints are a good thing for new artists. He defies the typical starving artist moniker, to separate himself from the broke. "The steps are simple, just follow other great artists" he says. "Study who was doing it, to gain profit". Similar to how he followed the steps of the great Picasso. "Create different styles of art, research!" His plans are to have one of the largest body's of work in the world. Miya Bailey's motivation is the people. He doesn't like seeing people struggle and he's managed to help employ other artists and inspire them to want to do good, produce their best artwork and set standards high. The same thing Russell Simmons did for hip hop is what Miya Bailey plans to do for artists, help get them power and make as much money as possible. Get the people who really don't appreciate art out and focus on the true artists. He feels thankful to be able to take care of himself off of something he loves and to not see his family struggle. Its been a long journey for Miya from losing friends to inspiring artists and art lovers all over the world & owning multiple City of Ink shops in Atlanta, Ga and the Notch8Gallery.
