if you could suggest five albums that are important to you, you relate to, or just really really like, what albums would you go with?

1. Beyonce – Renaissance

Brings me so much joy. I cannot separate the album from the concert, which was one of the most transcendent experiences of my life. I am obsessed with the collage style of Beyonce’s production, I love the genre deep dive and how cinematic this album feels.

2. Florence + the Machine – Dance Fever

I can’t listen to this album without wanting to howl along and run through the woods. It speaks directly to my soul. I am in awe every time I listen. The perfect combination of lyricism and angst.

3. Lorde – Solar Power

An album I come back to every year. Makes me feel more comfortable about getting older, embracing uncertainty and living a life that does not meet other people’s expectations. And the softer sounds feel like a deep breath.

4. Miya Folick – Erotica Veronica

Coming of age but for your late twenties, early thirties. I have fallen in love with this album slowly and now I can’t get through a week without returning to it.

5. Muna – self-titled

The album I feel closest to. I love the storytelling, the world it creates. It makes me want to dance, it makes me want to cry. It is so precious to me I feel oddly protective over it.

(I spent too long overthinking this. It feels blasphemous not to include Speak Now, The Black Parade and Electra Heart because they are the foundation of my taste in music. My 21st Century Symphony (Live at the Royal Albert Hall), Folklore and To Pimp a Butterfly were also very close calls.)
