SSaw someone posting a ‘what 10 songs are you into right now’ thing under the Kalafina tag and decided to do one myself.
1. LUVORATORRRRRY!! by REOL - Too fucking catchy holy shit.
2. 3WD by Task Have Fun - Dat funky ass bassline is amazing, as is that brass. Also this is only their 4th single thus far, so they’re still new.
3. oh!my!ME・GA・MIに恋してる! by Broken by the Scream - Talking of new, this is their only song so far. And to think those growls come out of the sweet, adorable Io.
4. Painfully Violent by Guso Drop - I am still highly upset that this is the last song they will ever release. It’s hard, heavy, visceral and totally fantastic. Guso Drop truly were a group that burned too bright and then disappeared in a sudden blaze.
5. Touch the People by Beck - Never heard this before I played Sound Shapes, and now I have it stuck on loop. What a surreal existence of a song.
6. Sweet Escape by You’ll Melt More! - Specifically the live version at that, although the studio version is good too. I guess this is what happens when you mash idols with Hawkwind, tuns out it’s wonderful.
7. Ultra Miracle Cool Final Ultimate Choco Beam by The World Standard - I don’t even really know what this is, but the video is amazing and the song is a delightful mess in the best kind of way.
8. Sexy Cat’s Speech by Morning Musume - I don’t even like Morning Musume for the most part but this goddamn song won’t get out of my head and I love it. Stupid sexy bassline and brass combo again. Also the video has catgirls being the most catlike I have ever seen: being dicks to eveyone.
9. Boku no Friend by Miyuhan - No vid for this but oh well. Just all around a fine song, and I love the girl’s vocals. Reminds me a little of Etsuku Yakushimaru or Bonjour Suzuki actually, albeit not quite as whispery.
10. If You Only Knew (World’s End Girlfriend Remix) by OLIVIA - This song has actually been a favourite of mine for the last couple of years, the original version is lovely, but the remix is on a whole extra level. Just sounds amazing in every way, combining WEG’s glitchy soundscapes with OLIVIA’s phenomenal vocals is exactly what the world needed.
