Hey yo, did you ever finish season 1 of Warrior? Season 2 I s coming out in like two weeks.

its funny you send me this message because i was JUST looking up/reading about Warrior like a day ago.

i never did finish it though cuz i dont have cinemax :( . i might just go ahead and buy season 1 because i still wanna watch it!

I’ve been playing it since it’s released! I’m still not that crazy about playing on the computer but I hope to play the ps4 version soon as soon as I can get to a console lol

From what I read of Wu Assassins, the acting and writing was a little more to be desired, but martial arts was on point. So maybe the trailer was just a poorly made one lol.

well, i grew up on kung fu films so i can handle some bad writing if the action is on point. i love iko uwais, so i gotta check it out.

For Warrior, there’s like, a mandatory sec scene in every episode apparently, so there’s that. But the fight choreo felt more natural and less Bruce Lee forced if that makes any sense, as the season progressed. The plot and character development were more at the fore front later on, so yeah, I think it’s worth watching more of. Hopefully it’ll be on Netflix or something soon!

UGGGGGGH, why the sex scenes. i hate that crap.

but yea, that totally makes sense! my big criticism of the first episode is that the main guy was like...trying too hard to imitate Bruce Lee’s on screen fighting style which i dont think anyone on planet earth can do well except Bruce Lee himself.

i might do a 7 day free trial and just blast through the entire season, lol, though netflix would be perfect.

Also I pirated/streamed the rest of Warrior and I liked the rest of the season enough to keep watching. Don’t know where you’re at with it, but they are approved for a season 2.

i LEGIT was going to message you soon about The Warrior to see what your thoughts on it were. I didn’t go any further than episode 1 (because getting a hold of episodes is very inconvenient for me). the first episode i remember being kind of underwhelmed by in terms of fight choreography, but I heard it got better. 

ill definitely try to check it out though.

I’m planning to once I get back into town. It’s got a decent score on rotten tomatoes. I was underwhelmed with the fight choreo in the trailer but I still want to support it so.

i would be crushed if the fight choreography in a show that stars freakin Iko Uwais from the Raid is a let down. i’m not expecting Raid level fights here, but i at least want it to be better than Daredevil, lol. i plan on watching it too after I finish Cannon Busters.

tarantino loves that shit too (well a lot of white hollywood does).

its like a weird racist backlash to the groundwork that Bruce Lee set down when he changed the landscape of action here.

All in all, I do still want to keep watching, and I hope the next few episodes we see the show getting more comfortable finding solid ground. It’s an ambitious and pretty idealistic show, and social commentary aside, I’m pretty happy to finally see multi dimensional portrayals of Asian characters, like yes we swear like a sailor too lol.

I did appreciate how they kept the modern English speaking with the Chinese characters when they’re speaking win each other, to me, I think that really combats the perpetual foreigner crap we still have to deal with. And they leave the accented, “realistic” for the time period I suppose, English when they’re around white characters. Everyone basically has some kind of accent relevant to the time period, and the funny accents weren’t used as some cheap joke.

So my first thought was “whoa, there’s a lot more....skin than what I was lead to believe��” lol but I felt slightly underwhelmed too with the fighting. I read a few behind the scenes stuff, if I’m recalling correctly they wanted to emulate and pay homage to Bruce Lee whenever they could, but I noticed that his fighting style shows up with multiple characters, not just Ah Sahm. Which confused me, because I thought Ah Sahm was basically an alternate Bruce Lee in this universe.

you know, before i wrote up my post, i had a bullet point list in my head of points i wanted to cover and the amount of nudity was one of them, but it totally slipped my mind when i started writing.

but yea, there was uh...WAY too much of that. i was also totally caught off guard.

i also noticed that more than just ah sahm had bruce lee’s fighting style. i remember seeing it specifically with that one tough dude he fought just before his sister showed up and thinking “huh, thats kinda odd?” i dunno if its supposed to mean something for the future, but i did find that weird.

im a big fan of the guy who..i guess sold ah sahm? i just like his look and his general acting. the son of the bossman is funny too but he looks like he radiates slime, lol.

i do want to watch more too, so im gonna have to find a way to get my hands on the series.
