on the negative side, i played palworld for like 3 days. BOO ME!
iloveher
You know what, fuck you *banishes you to the late 90s music video dimension*
“RECENTLY THERE’S BEEN A LOT OF PEOPLE ONLINE CHALLENGING EACH OTHER TO CHEW THROUGH WATERMELON. IS THERE ANYONE WILLING TO CHALLENGE ME??” *smacks head three times with plate* “[UNINTELLIGIBLE]” *gross wet chomping noises*
Anyone read a manga called Kingdom?
Seems extremely my shit, but i dunno
Palworld is a pretty annoying game tbh
It feels just as jank as Pokemon at times and i cant get over a lot of the pal designs. Theyre just a few pokemon mashed together into something that doesnt have a whole lot of cohesion. Some look like they are from sonic the hedgehog EU. Just very uninspired. All of the birds look the same to me; different variations of random bird pokemon but homogenized.
There are some designs i like though. Splatterina is really cool. Wispaw is my fav so far. Omascul is great. Maraith is pretty neat….somehow all of them are dark types…
The pokedex descriptions…and the world in general just feel cynical though, which i find pretty boring.
“The creatures learned how to use guns! Arent we cool?!”
“This creature likes to dismember people! For reasons!”
It feels like they are trying to match some of the qurkier pokedex desriptions from pokemon, but those work in those games because theres not that many of them…and pokemon just feel better thought out in terms of their placement in the world.
Why is there a pal that spawns with a butcher knife and is a serial killer and is also called splatterina? Like how does that fit into anything other than trying to be edgy? And i LIKE splatterina. But like a lot of the pals, it just doesnt really have any sort of cohesion with the world its in.
And dear god the human ‘characters’and ‘story’…
Pokemon is a game written for babies, but at the very least, the characters tend to be memorable.
The only character i can remember off the top my head from palworld is the first boss and only cuz she sorta looks like Ironmouse.
Suggesting this game to pokemon fans seems misguided. They arent really that alike other than you catch monsters.
One series is a jrpg and the other is like a mish mash/survival game. If you want a relaxed time with memorable characters, forgettable story, fun monster designs, good music, turn based battling, and some thought put into how the monsters interact with the world, you play pokemon.
If you want a resource gathering survival game where you can freely explore a huge map, endlessly grind for materials, catch monsters and do other stuff from like 5 different game genres, you play palworld
Sometimes there are reblogs of one of my posts with the most incomprehensible tags on it. I mean things that are in the english language but put together in a way that reads as a completely alien concept together me.
And i dont mean some random fandom stuff. They are words that make me wonder if im on the same planet as the people writing them.
after playing palworld for a little ( a friend of mine gifted it to me), i gotta say, i like half of the game and F**KING DESPISE the other half.
i think exploring the world and catching the fakemon is pretty fun...its pretty much just pokemon legends arceus in that regard, which i love. taking over some enemy territory by destroying everyone with your pokemon is really fun.
however, the survival/base building shit....its bad. i hate it SO much and try to engage with it as little as possible. gathering materials to build new material to build some bullshit so you can get upgraded materials is so tedious and so boring. you wanna hold a button down for 10 minutes straight so you can craft some bullshit? YAY. it just feels like a way to pad out how much time it takes to do literally anything.
i let my friends do all that because it legit makes me want to quit the game when i have to sit in front of a crafting bench and hold down the F key for literal minutes to build a legendary item. i cant even like....automate it really. i HAVE to push the button down and i cant tab out of the game.
i ended up putting a weight on the button and walking away from my computer because it takes so long.
its not gameplay, its tedium.
a tragedy in 3 acts
The characters in Edgerunners stuck with me a lot more than i thought they would.
I cant stop thinking about David’s line in the wuwa collab
“But you don’t need to hear the words of a ghost, not anymore”
Especially his delivery of the line. It just hits so hard
Its always really sad to see a great character design wasted in some doodoo garbage
Minecraft is addicting…………..
