I think they're casting someone different for Batman, which makes it confusing. Same with the Joker standalone, they're going with a different actor. They did this with the Flash too by saying "no he's different than the one in the show" but they gave him the same backstory and struggles with his dad that the one in the show has like??? Who is in charge of marketing and character brand management there?????

With him in mind, I’m curious to check this out…the only other podcast I’ve ever gotten into is WTNV, although I’m woefully behind on it.

It has a bit of a WTNV vibe to it (I also fell super far behind and eventually gave up on ever catching up). Juno Steel is a film-noir private eye type, but living on Mars at some point in the future. It has a lot of fun playing with the genre and subverting tropes and stuff. There’s also a couple of fun bonus episodes that play with genre - one is a Western and some of the others are knights of the round table type stories.

There are a ton of queer characters and I also realized that podcasts are excellent for revealing subconscious racial bias. Even though there’s no physical description, I realized I was picturing Juno as white, which is dumb. So now I’m picturing Aldis Hodge because as funny as he was as Hardison, I also think he’d be really good as a world-weary detective.

The way the episode ended messed my head up, I felt really bad for the families of the victims, bad for Justin’s Mom and Sis, and I was angry at the guy that lied to manipulated and kidnapped Justin... For it to be one of his first roles Sebastian was very good. His performance was more multifaceted than just angry teen. There was confusion, there was fear, there was vulnerability. I’m sorry if I make no sense.. I’m rambly and half-asleep.

You make perfect sense! I agree, the character and Seb’s performance were definitely multifaceted. The entire situation was so heinous, and Seb’s performance of Justin let you see that he was a victim as well as the perp.

I've only seen that episode once. Compared to SVU, I find some of the pacing in L & O a bit jarring, so I don't watch it much. That being said, I thought it was an interesting story. The parallels between Justin Capshaw and the Winter Soldier were quite striking. Strange how coincidences like that happen.

And I still can't believe Sebastian is actually 21 there. The character is supposed to be 15, and he really looks like he's 15!

I used to watch every L&O and I saw this one back in it’s first run and even before being a Seb fan I was as messed up and torn over the whole story as I am today. I was convinced he was a younger actor even then. Your comparison of Justin/Bucky-WS is just settling in and it makes me even sadder (as well as completely dumbfounded at why I didn’t pick up on it on my own).

If anybody hasn’t seen this, I advise you to look for it, it’s such an amazing performance.
