Not his best move in the situation as it was out of panic, but given his own past experience using the snake to rewind the moment he told Marinette the truth about his struggle of still being in love with her, it didn't take him long to realize Ladybug only traveled to Brazil and asked for the snake miraculous because she planned to rewind the moment of telling him the truth about Gabriel, but he for one didn't want to forget the moment happened.

He wanted to help her, but the situation over the truth left both of them thinking too rashly. Of course, the same thing happened back when he used "second chance" with Marinette, Marinette tried to reach for Luka's arm after realizing Luka was going to rewind the moment he told her about his struggle with still being in love with her and she for one didn't want to forget, she wanted to find a way to help.

All of this once again showing that using the snake miraculous for personal uses will only lead to suffering if the holder doesn't understand that they need to let a personal moment continue to carry on. But the reason anyone using such a power does it, is because that power is too tempting to not use in certain moments.
