Top Three MLB Betting Power Rankings
Once a week, followers of odds on MLB lines look for news reports on MLB power rankings. It’s nice to see who’s on top, but when you bet baseball, you’re not always concerned with betting on the best team with the best record. You want to bet smartly. Sometimes, that includes betting on teams who don’t necessarily sit at the top of the power rankings.
So rather than storm through a play-by-play of this week’s power rankings, we thought it would be smarter to pick out our favorite teams that are worth betting on at sports betting online sites—or at least watching how they perform this week. Yes, we’ve included a top team in our list, but most of our picks might be a bit unexpected, so read on.
1- St. Louis Cardinals
If the World Series were held today, these guys would crush it—possibly in four games. Consider their 34-17 record. You don’t have to check the mobile sportsbook odds to know that no other MLB team comes close. Even the AL-leading Boston Red Sox are behind with a 31-21 record.
And the Cardinals’ road record is equally impressive. They’re 20-9 away from home, once again owning the league’s best record. On top of that, they haven’t lost a series since April. It’s almost June. Not bad.
2- Oakland Athletics
We know. They’re second in the AL West, so you probably expected us to talk about the Rangers here instead. But hear us out. The Athletics have a 5-game win streak under their belt. That’s pushed them up this week’s rankings by five. They’ve also secured victories in 10 of their last 11 games. That’s pushed them seven games above .500 for the first time in over a month.
3- Toronto Blue Jays (we’re serious)
The Toronto Blue Jays are worth watching. Yes, Jays fans and sports betting online enthusiasts hoping to make money of the likes of R.A. Dickey are pissed with this season, especially after the excitement that came with signing major league powerhouses, ultimately recreating the 1992 and 1993 seasons when Toronto won back-to-back World Series.
But Toronto has gotten off to a slow start, with a pretty horrible 22-30 record. And yes, the Jays rank 20th out of 30 MLB teams, not to mention last in the AL East.
Still, they’re managing to move up the rankings and impress MLB lines followers in the process. They’re up about 5th place overall from last week when you take into account both NL and AL. That’s largely in part to Edwin Encarnacion, who has four HRs and 19 RBIs over his last 14 matchups, not to mention a .353 batting average. And Jose Bautista has gone 17 for 33 with two HRs and six RBIs over his last seven outings. Not horrible. These guys could climb the rankings pretty quickly.
