DIY: Flutter Pony Wings

Are your flutter ponies missing their wings? You don’t mind if they don’t look like the originals? Here comes a craft for you:

You’ll need:

A plastic bottle (one or more depending on how many tries you’ll need)

Scissors (one big and one small is preferable)

A tealight

Glitter nail polish

A flutter pony (of course)

First you cut out two ovals from the plastic bottle. Just a little bit bigger than how you want the wings.

Then you light the tealight and hold one of the plastic pieces over the flame (not to close, that will burn the plastic). Move the plastic as it starts to bend. Do the same with the other. This might take a lot of trial and error and if you don’t like the result you can cut out more ovals from the bottle and start over (this is why you might need more than one bottle).

If you find it too hard to shape them you can also look for bottles that have interesting patterns and just cut out a shape that you want and skip the whole procedure with the tealight.

When you finally have two wings that are the way you want them to be you then cut out little tabs so that they can be attached to the wing holders. Cut them little by little so that you don’t cut off to much. There is no need to glue them on if the tabs are exactly the right size.

When they fit just right it’s time to paint them with nail polish. I paint the side that is going to be under.

Let them dry and then your flutter pony have new wings! I ended up using two nail polishes, one with iridescent flakes and one with purple stars.

Removing pink marker from pony

I have never had any luck at thrift stores or flea markets when it comes to ponies. Until one day I found the G3 pony Hidden Treasure (a very fitting name). But she had pink marker on her legs and wings and a faded ink stain on one of her legs.

At first I thought it was hopeless to remove it and regretted a little that I had bought her. But then I remembered that I had read somewhere that acne cream with benzoyl peroxide could fade it. So i tried it and here is the result:

It’s gone! I am so happy! It did however not work straight away. I did it five times and waited several days but one day when I looked at her I could no longer see it. And now all I need to do is to comb and conditioner that hair and she will be almost as new :D

But you have to be careful when using acne cream on ponies. For example don’t use it on green, blue, purple and magenta ponies. That can leave stains. Some white ponies can be whiten with it but some also get stains instead. Read more about it at the MLP Preservation Project.

Here's an easy way doing ringlet curls (in sweden we call it corkscrew curls) on ponies. All you need is straws, bobby pins and a comb. Just wash the pony's hair (use conditioner if it's frizzy). Then comb it and wrap it up on the straws. Cut the straw and fix the hair in place with the hair pins. Let i dry over night and the next day it's done!

tulip twinkle and pinkie pie ^____^ im gonna give them a much needed bath later. they both have foil strips in their hair, anybody have any tips for how to clean them properly?
