This was supposed to come out last week but health wasn’t on my side. It was nothing serious but I was uncomfortable and bedridden at times. I’m full of energy now ^^
More kisses from @creativepromptsforwriting’s list (and I hope to fill a few more at least). Thank you for creating it, and you can reblog it on @creativepromptfills, as well as the first one I wrote.
Title: The Doting Parent
Genre: Slice of life with a little fluff
Prompt: 33# Kissing it better
Words: 1153
Notes: No, despite what the title says, Victor isn’t the true star of the story XD I don’t know if the narrative is a bit confusing... In that case, or if you see any mistake, please tell me so I can correct whatever it is (as you know, English isn’t my native language). I hope you enjoy this little piece ^^
THE DOTING PARENT
Sometimes, Pudding could be a difficult cat, like when he tried to steal something he had cooked or, as in that case, when he had to go to the vet.
Victor sighed as he closed the door of yet another room he had checked in search of his pet to no avail. Pudding liked to play hide and seek quite often, especially when he was feeling playful or was enticed by a certain dummy. He had even become worried once when he had spent half a day without seeing him only to find him in a wine box in the cellar, deeply asleep.
But it was when he opened the cabinet where he kept his pet carrier that the cat played the game of vanishing. Sometimes, if there was not a visit to the vet appointed, he could see him, after a while, peeking from behind the door of the room where he was, his eyes following him, ready to sprint away from his grasp at the slightest sign of alarm until he was convinced that everything was fine and could finally relax.
After the first time, when he had almost had to cancel the appointment, Victor started to get ready a few hours prior to the visit. He took the carrier out and left him time to hide and feel safe, as, on another occasion, he had had to pursue him up and down the house, ending the chase just when Pudding ran out of stamina and the vet had warned him sternly about the stressed state of the pet. It was then that he started looking for him.
Fifteen minutes and a few rooms more later, he found him in his walk-in closet, under a jumper that was never on the floor and which barely covered his tail. Sometimes, he was as bad at hiding as a certain someone.
He closed the door behind him as silently as he could and came closer to the jumper. It did not move, probably a sign that the cat had fallen asleep. With great care, he bent down and picked it up carefully, holding the bundle to his chest to secure him as he felt Pudding tensing and struggling. And then, as Victor was expecting, it came. The cat bit his thumb, not as hard as to draw blood but strong enough for a pang of pain to curse through his hand. It was his way of saying that if he was going to suffer, his human would do so too. Of course, he knew his owner would not surrender and free him but he still did it anyway.
Victor came downstairs, to the living room where he had left the carrier in time to hear the main door closing and the sound of steps approaching.
“I see you’re going to the vet, Pudding” she smiled seeing both owner and cat, bending slightly in front of them. “Poor little thing…” she rubbed the space between her ears softly and the cat responded to her, never letting go of his prey.
Victor had always said that she spoiled him too much, whether it was with food or games. Since the first moment she had come to his house, Pudding had taken a liking to her, and he had been glad that the feeling had been mutual. However, she was too soft with him sometimes, and the cat knew who to approach when he wanted something his human did not approve of, like a child with a doting parent.
“You came back early” Victor commented, tightening his grip on Pudding when he struggled, probably thinking of taking advantage of a potential distraction from his part.
“Yes, the film star we were supposed to interview this afternoon cancelled the appointment at the last minute for health matters, and it was the last thing to do before wrapping up the documentary, so for once, I left early” she left her bag on the sofa and took off her coat.
Victor made a soft sound and then, walked to the carrier and left Pudding there, coaxing the animal gently to release his finger by offering him a snack he had left there and wrapping him carefully in his jumper. Just this time, he would comply with lending him his clothes.
He sighed when he closed the small door, inspecting his thumb. Pudding’s teeth were a clear line of little punctures on his skin, none of them serious or bleeding, but stating clearly his bad mood. He would probably be angry for two or three days more.
Immediately, she was by his side, furrowing her brows, and lifting her sight to him after a few moments.
“Is it always like this?”
Victor shrugged slightly, letting her take his hand carefully and lead him to the sofa.
“There are better days than others. Today, I think he saw me take the vaccination card before scurrying away.”
The young woman shook her head and made him sit.
“I’ll bring the first-aid kit.”
After a minute, she sat next to him and started dabbing at his finger with disinfectant carefully, applying then an antibiotic ointment. Then, she rummaged in the box for a plaster but did not find any, just bandages. She took her bag and extracted one from the inner pocket.
Victor wrinkled his nose when he saw the little shiba inu faces scattered on it, but decided not to say anything.
“There” she said with a smile, tapping the band aid. Then, she took his hand and brushed her lips over it.
“Now it’ll be better sooner” she smiled brightly at him and he moved his head, releasing his hand from her grasp.
“Childish.”
She pouted a little, puffing her cheeks, and closed the first-aid kit on her lap louder than necessary. Victor stood up and took his jacket, putting it on.
“But thank you...”
In a sudden movement, he leant over and kissed her cheek, leaving her speechless, her widened eyes on him, a moment he took to steal a second one from her lips.
“I’ll be back in a couple of hours.”
A deep shade of red coloured her skin and he smiled playfully. She lifted herself from the seat as he took the pet carrier, embarrassed, biting her lower lip but at the same time suppressing a small giggle. It was rare that he showed that side of him, and she cherished every single moment he did.
“I’ll have dinner ready by then” she went with them to the main entrance. “Anything special for the little gentlecat?”
Victor rolled his eyes at the nickname.
“The crab meal tin I left in the usual cupboard. I’ll buy a couple of his favourite snacks at the vet’s.”
The young woman could not hold her laughter a second time as he went out and she waved her hand at them from the door.
Happy New Year, lovelies!!! ✧⁺⸜(●′▾‵●)⸝⁺✧ I hope all your resolutions and dreams become true and, above all, that you stay healthy.
Between family and other things, I didn't post here in almost all the holidays. In the end, a Christmas miracle happened and Victor came home IN MY FIRST 10 PULL (and it was with GW tickets, so I have all my gems for Victor's birthday in ten days ヾ(*´∇`)ノ ). I was seeing all the repeated karma that were appearing and suddenly, the clocks appeared and I couldn't believe it... I hope I have some luck left for the rest of the year XDDD
I haven't read the date yet, maybe I'll have some free time tonight and I'll re-read the other two set at Christmas too. Little Pudding is so cute! ♡♡♡
Well, I have to go to have lunch with my cousin and go shopping for presents (in my country, we give them on 6th January). Have fun!
This year, I received a graphic pad as a Christmas present so instead of a fanfic, I decided to try to draw Victor this time ^^
It’s my first digital drawing with Clip Art Studio (I tried with Photoshop first), and also, the first one after a long, long time (before I started to work, I liked drawing, but always in the traditional way), so please, forgive the irregular lines and many other mistakes I made (I’m still getting used to it), and I hope you like my humble present for him ♡♡♡
EDIT: OMG! I forgot to draw the lapels of the jacket XDDD Please, don’t take it into account! I can’t do anything about it today... *facepalm*
