Comic con had most people walk in a wide arc around us, doing their damndest ti avoid eye contact.

Mega Manga Convention has people constantly stopping by, for a short chat, to browse, often enough to buy. One person bought a bunch of my gryphon merch just because gryphons, and someone else badgered all her friends to get raffle tickets from me because she was so vocally in love with my Gem ACEOs and wanted to bring some to her gf.

I had a similar experience at Animefest. People just didn't care about appearance much, they let their curiosity and love guide them towards wherever and just... Enjoyed stuff. Which is so pleasant and refreshing.

Maybe Comic Con was an exception, but I dont think that the warmth of anime con goers is a coincidence.
