This is an illustration I made for the Lantern Rite fanart contest back in February!
To quote Madame Ping: 'Surely, the reason the Lantern Rite exists is because people throughout the ages have chosen to come together as friends rather than stay in isolation.'
Even though most adepti decided to stay recluse, I'm sure the ones who decided to live among humans would organise their own lantern festival, as an opportunity to reunite and celebrate with their old companions.
Here, the night sky full of lanterns is reflected in Mt. Aocang's lake. Xiao watches the scene, eyes full of wonder.
I think the composition was probably a bit too ambitious for my coloring skills, but it was very fun to do!
