A Steven Universe AU for Madoka Magica...

in a world that is an half-crossover with Steven Universe, what if the incubators were the Homeworld gems and they make young girls contract so they become gems too? Maybe following something like the mass destrucion of great part of the population of the planet, they need to recruit new members and they use human teenage girls to do so. While the relationship between the Soul Gems and the body is the same, the contracted one becomes a Gem and the best part about this is that they can FUSE with other Magis to create more powerful magis! And the witches are the Corrupted gems that are a threat to the Gem race and Earth itself. Femenine earthlings are, in fact, engaging to become what could be defined Kindergarten gems. They gain both common abilities (example: shapeshifting) and unique abilities (depending on the gem they become and wish). The deal is the same now: damage the body and it retreats into the gem; destroy the gem and she dies, only shreds remain. Now, Corrupted Gems that have retreated into their gem form can be bubbled and will be sent on the Homeworld, for either destruction or being converted into their old self, wich isn’t very likely to happen. And if it does, they’re going to have to serve Homeworld. Forever. Fusing kinda works like in the canon SU verse: fused Gems, basing on how closed the fusings are, can be more or less stable. Unstabilities manifest body deformations as multiple limbs, eyes or even a less human shape (see the canon Malachite). Corrupted Gems can’t fuse. This is how I’ve got so far. Tell me if you want me to continue and want to know what mineral (based on colour and simbolism) could be associated with every Magi (from the mainverse and spin-offs).
