“I don’t know how to stay silent when my heart is speaking”
Fyodor Dostoevsky (White Nights)
Going back to paneling using grey solids, its biggest drawback is how addictive it is and how easy it makes it to fall into habit. Using wide rectangular panels (my favorite) will give you a cinematic feeling comic but it encourages boring angles. I do way too many shot reverse shots because my panels are stiff making my vision stiff.
Especially with “settling in” I looked at it and was like...this looks fucking boring yoooooo! Which was kind of part of it, most of Tsukata is day to day stuff. R&B always did something they were more action based coz their lives were more hectic. Kita and Tsukasa....quietly live together. This is partially on purpose, Tsukasa is the last stretch of Kita’s life about 7 years in real time. Things still happen, but nothing like in R&B.
Avoiding boring angles means pushing more exciting perspectives (top down, shots from the bottom which I’ve virtually never done before) which take tiiiiiiime. So save time wherever possible, give extra time to at least 1 out of the ordinary panel to break up the reading flow, use this panel to establish locations with detailed backgrounds reorienting the reader’s eyes.

"¡Hermano!"
