Had to reblog that post about magic again because I think about it every time I start tiptoeing back into Dragon Age and yet I always have trouble finding it.
But like... everytime I play DA, or back when we all watched The Witcher, or everytime I watch Howl's Moving Castle or that first time I read Witch Hat Atelier, I think about how magic feels in those worlds, and that post was the first time I figured out how to say it. You know?
Does magic come with a price? How soaked into the world is it? Is it like water brushing through or more like blood seeping in? Does it blanket the world's landscape like cobwebs or like a blizzard's worth of snow? By how soaked, I mean is it an inherent part of the landscape or is it entirely foreign to it, brought upon the land despite the land's efforts? How much does this effect or IS effected by the people living in this world? When everyone is gone, is Magic still there? Is Magic the beginning, the end, or was it never supposed to be here at all?
Basically, this is my love letter to interesting magic systems, and how much or little they are explained or an integral part of their stories.
