the weekender - Thursday
Rock Island peeps// Illinois folks that hate crossing river bridges, don't think we forgot about you. Thursday night the Skellington Manor is throwing yet another of its wildly successful Skellington Swerve variety shows. Each month the venerable old Skellington Manor (typically known for its murder mysteries and haunted houses) opens the stage to an eclectic mix of local talent. Here's what to expect: According to my connection(s) in the comedy world, Chris Schlichting is a top talent here in the Quad Cities. 1) He's guested on the nationally syndicated radio shows the Bob & Tom Show and Sam Roberts' Show. 2) He taped his kid punching his other kid in the hip and it got like 1,000,000 views. 3) His dramatic turn as Ben Affleck in the new Jennifer Lopez biopic is one of my favorite cinematic performances to date. Dude is on fire at the moment.
If you are a regular at shows, you no doubt have seen (or heard) Mo Carter. One-quarter of defunct local favorites the Busted Chandeliers and currently in the Velies with former Jim the Mule frontman Tom Swanson, Carter has been working the club scene here in the Quad Cities for nearly a decade. She’s loved by KBPR Boston and is country as hell because she can drink you under the table.
Other performances by: Comedians: Charles Taylor and Heather Nobling Music From: Juliana & A Soul Purpose
