I'm a girl's girl, I'm a boss in a man's world
ryujin was an only child. her father (one of the biggest gang leaders in south korea, or hell, maybe all of korea) wanted a boy, of course. he didn't exactly think a woman wouldn't be capable of keeping his legacy, but if he were to have a daughter, he always imagined taking care of all her expenses, until his very last day. he didn't want her to worry about any of this. he wanted her to be able to pursue her dream without having to worry of it making her enough money to live comfortably. because he would always provide for her.
he did not want this to be ryujin's dream.
her father tried his best to keep her out of it, to keep her out of meetings or avoiding any questions about what he did for a living. but, ryujin took after her mother, she wasn't stupid. 3.9 gpa most of her student career which often would help her in the future, but point aside, she could connect the dots pretty quickly. he tries to ignore how much she plays with yuna cops and robbers. but it always kept him up at night how he’d eventually have to talk to her about it.
he tells her when she’s 16, just like his father had done for him and his brother. it starts then, the two chairs at his desk instead of one, ryujin always listening in on meetings and them discussing it right after. he comes to her rather early for her opinion and advice on certain decisions he’d have to take. and soon, he picks her up at least once a week from school (even when she can drive) and they start her training. ryujin rarely encountered women in the business that sadly weren’t just someone’s wife. she always thought your mom and you were so cool for that.
I don't like the drama but I'll finish what you started
ryujin and you silently walk in the warehouse, and she calmly creeps up behind her employee and takes the gun from him, pointing it at the hostage and in one take shooting him in the center of his forehead, the man immediately falling limp in the chair. but your wife doesn’t bat an eye, resting bitch face in full display as she pulls a random chair and sits right behind her guard.
“you didn’t do your job. i did. what happened?” she pouts (a fake one, of course) and crosses her arms on her knee, the gun once again cocked and still in her hand. the poor man is this close to hyperventilating, drenched in sweat as he watches you approach his boss and wait for an answer.
“you- you- what?“ ryujin shrugs “do you know how much i’m paying you per kill?”
“500k. your first day on the job after you boasted being so good at it and now you’ve lost 500k. and an eye” ryujin tuts, standing up, so peaceful, so calm. no one would’ve thought she was about to shoot this man
“w-what?” but she doesn’t give him time to think before he’s screaming in pain as she’s shot him straight in his right eye.
“next time, it’ll be like him” she slams the gun on the table nearby and fetches a box of cigarettes from her front pocket, taking one out and putting it between her lips as she mumbles. “i’m not paying you to clean this shit up. it’s your mess. you’ll see if you do well next chance you get.” takes a drag and puts it out on his forehead, the side that wasn’t covered by his hand holding his eye socket in pain.
I'm makin' sure you get the memo, yeah
“how much does she owe you?” ryujin spits at the pathetic man laying on the floor, under her foot. “how much money is it? huh?” she’s dug into her pocket and pulled out a stack of a couple of hundreds, had to be at least 5k and without even counting throws it on him. a few dollars flying down next to him. “meet me for the rest” she kicks him over and walks to where all three of you stood, knowing he most likely would never come for it
“how much do you owe him chaer” her tone is not fun or mocking like usual.
“sixty k” the redhead whispers and yuna slaps her forehead in frustration, yet you and ryujin remain quietly looking at each other, understanding one another easily. that wasn’t a lot of money for ryujin, barely made a dent in her pocket, but it was still a lot of money to owe an excuse of a man like the one she just beat up.
“i’ll write him a check tomorrow” she starts to walk past her, but steps back and closer to her “not because of him. because of you. i don’t want some drunk-ass hurting you over a couple of greens. you need better body guards by the way, what do you think could’ve happened if he got you alone?”
chaeryeong looks down in embarrassment, everyone felt so scolded when it was ryujin, because she rarely fucks up, if anything, she should be the one to scold everyone who ever did something wrong.
I do what you doin', boy. doin' it like a tomboy
“why should i do business with you, a woman?” he lays back on the leather chair, and crosses a leg over the other.
“did you seriously come to my house expecting i would beg for you to sign a stupid contract?” ryujin scoffs from her chair, taking a swig of her drink. “i’ll keep doing well without this deal, if anything, you need me.”
“it’s just not the same” the man presents a fake pout. “you’ll never be your dad” and he shrugs.
“you’re right, i can’t be him. but he’s retired, and i have tons of people wanting to be in your place right now, so you can sign here-“ she places a sheet of paper in front of him and a pen on top. “or leave.”
her dad taught her everything she knows, it would be to basically do business with him or any man, just in a better body.
Independent, don't need help
“what are you doing here?” ryujin whispers when she gets close to him and leans over the counter, winking at the bartender so he knows to make her your usual.
“having fun?” he glares at her from the corner of his eye
“not in my club” she shakes her head
“your club? last time i heard this was chaer’s” the man chuckles
“don’t call her that” she glares “she’s on my payroll. so is this club, therefore, mine.” even if the club was hers on paper, it would always be chaer’s to her, she would never take it away from her, but he doesn’t have to know that.
“i need a favor from you” he declares, turning to finally look at her
“they’ll escort you” she snaps her fingers at two of her guards, but her arm is caught by him as he whispers next to her
“come on ryu, eye for an eye, you know i’ll do anything in return” more like he begs.
“if you’ll do anything, you can do this yourself” she grits, yanking her arm from his hold “i don’t do favors, nor do i need them. get out”
Skating through the city with my snapback on. Still be looking pretty with no makeup on
ryujin loved to get pretty for business. she loved making men choke on their own spit when they saw her, wearing all black with a red lip, usually some skin showing, looking so pretty that she had them stuttering for words. don’t get her wrong tho, she does it for herself, also because she likes when you have the same reaction as them, or even to have you whispering in her ear or begging through text for the two of you to leave earlier than planned.
but, when she has to get out of bed unexpectedly and apologize to you for leaving, “sorry baby. i,ll be right back” with a loving peck on your lips, she barely has the energy to change out of her silky pajamas and throw on some sweats, did you really think she would do her hair and make up at this hour? regardless, she’s more than pretty enough to cause the same effect on the men who betrayed her and who she blesses with a last look at her angelic face before she kills them.
They be like, "Baby, baby, how you get so fine?"
everyone had always been at her feet, probably since middle school. and don’t get it twisted, let it be known ryujin was hot, smart and good in bed, everyone envied you when the two of you started dating and she would proudly flaunt you to the rest of your school.
but she knows all the hungry eyes made your blood boil, and she loved it. she loved how people she would’ve never thought of even looking their way came up to her and flirted with her right in front of you and how before they could even leave you were pulling her towards the nearest empty classroom, probably to remind her she was only yours.
my mama said, "Marry a rich man" and I was like, "Mama, I am that rich man"
her mother always knew she was gay, so she doesn’t specifically stress the whole ‘marry a man’ but, she made sure to suggest “when you grow up, i really hope you find someone who can provide for you.” while braiding her hair for bed. because her mom silently hoped she wouldn’t follow her father’s footsteps.
“oh, ryu, are you taking anyone to the gala next week?” her mom asks over dinner “yuna’s going with her dad if not”
“eomma, yuna’s bringing a boyfriend” she mocks the word boyfriend, hating the thought of losing her best friend’s attention. “and.. i am bringing someone” she shrugs, both her mom and dad turning to look at her. “what?”
“well, go on” her dad insists “who is it?”
“ryujinie, remember what we talked about”
“can you please tell her i am not marrying for money? we have a lot as is and me stepping up is only going to bring us more.” she pleads at her dad, who nods at her and looks at his wife
“thank you. i’ll bring her for dinner before the gala, and you’ll love her”
and as expected, when ryujin brings you home, she’s more than pleased. finds you insanely pretty and educated, nice, she loves you. but there was always a small voice at the back of her head proudly reminding her of your family, and how her daughter would always be comfortable monetarily with you.
