Native, Web, atau Hybrid Application?

Kalo misalnya ditanya ke diri gue sendiri, gue jawab gue lebih milih untuk pake Native Application untuk Mobile Application.

Emang apa beda dari ketiganya?

Kalo menurut gue pribadi, bisa gue simpulkan jadi seperti berikut :

Native Application : Aplikasi yang di buat dan ditanam (install) langsung didalam device, menggunakan bahasa pemrograman yang selayaknya digunakan untuk membuat aplikasi tersebut. Misalnya, untuk membuat Android apps menggunakan Java dan SDK milik Android, dan iOS menggunakan Objective-C dan SDK iOS.

Mobile Web Application : Aplikasi mobile yang dijalankan menggunakan browser yang ada di handphone, menggunakan bahasa pemrograman web seperti PHP & HTML5.

Hybrid Application : Aplikasi mobile yang dibuat dan ditanam (install) langsung didalam device, menggunakan bahasa pemrograman website YANG DIGABUNG dengan bahasa pemrograman yang selayaknya digunakan utuk membuat aplikasi pada device yang dituju. Maksud dari "MENGGABUNG BAHASA PEMROGRAMAN" disini adalah, aplikasi inti dibuat dengan menggunakan bahasa pemrograman web, sedangkan untuk beberapa fitur yang tidak bisa dijalankan menggunakan bahasa pemrograman web, akan ditulis dalam bahasa pemrograman yang sesuai dengan device tujuan. Jadi intinya hybrid apps itu menggabungkan web apps dengan native apps dan dibundle menjadi 1 package dan ditaro lah di store. Jadi butuh proses instalasi, beda dengan mobile web yang biasanya.

Kalo mau tau lebih jelas tentang ketiganya, beserta keunggulan dan kekurangan dari ketiganya, lo bisa baca2 lebih lanjut di artikel ini yang menurut gue udah ngejelasin semuanya.

Well, untuk post ini gue cuma mau ngeluarin pendapat pribadi gue aja kalo seandainya gue ditanya mau pake native, web, atau hybrid. Dan diawal itu gue udah jawab kalo gue lebih prefer pake Native apps. Kenapa?

Native apps menurut gue lebih soft dan bener2 soft, user friendly banget deh.. Enak banget buat dipake, gak patah2 juga kalo di slide. Lain sama web apps, gue nyoba pake jQuery mobile, gue testing pake MobileTest.Me yak untuk sekedar preview tampilan disana aja, jadi gue gak bisa ngecek secara keseluruhan mengenai fungsional, tapi begitu gue upload ke server itu web apps, dan gue buka di hp gue sendiri, gue kurang sreg sama performa si mobile web apps ini.. Kerasa banget pas gue slide kebawah gitu dia agak flick gitu, sempet patah2 dan gue rasa load time nya lebih lama berhubung semua datanya nyomot dari server langsung, beda sama native yang sebagian besar data itu disimpen di storage device, yang dicomot dari server sebagian besar hanya berupa text.

Walaupun emang ada istilah Write Once, Run Everywhere untuk Mobile Web Apps, gue tetep prefer untuk ngoding satu2 untuk gadget tujuan, dan hal itu berlaku untuk project yang lagi gue kembangin sekarang..

Btw, yang gue coba itu cuma dari jQuery mobile ya, gue gak nyobain yang lain2 karena gue pikir gue udah keburu nyaman dengan native apps dan alhamdulillah udah lumayan lancar dengan Objective-C dan Java, jadi yaudahlah pegangan gue kearah 2 itu aja.. Lagipula emang basic gue dari dulu mainnya di Desktop Apps (dulu di C#.Net, VB6.0) dan jarang maen di Web Apps, jadi feelnya emang keburu dapet di native.. :D
