Group meeting 3 [Ad-hoc]

Our third group meeting was conducted on Tuesday 4th August at 10.20AM. Our main communication takes place through Facebook and the question was raised about having another group meeting before Week 7 tutorial. Four out of the five group members checked Facebook and received the message. Ashe was unable to attend due to prior commitments and Brian was unable to attend at the last minute. Therefore, Jordie and I were the only ones to meet up and discuss progress so far. As such, there are no group meeting notes.
In summary: Since we were both working on technological solutions to the prototype, we discussed, tested and researched several potential ideas. Our main endeavour was to find an App on the Android or Apple Store that would be capable of giving us the functionality of a remote air mouse. This seemed to be a much cheaper solution than buying an air mouse ($50-$150). As such, we purchased, downloaded and tested a variety of apps including:

There were also some other App clones which we tried. The most promising result was Mobile Mouse Pro, which featured decent tracking using the iPod’s gyroscope and accelerometer. However, this feature only works when you are holding down a trigger button. Our plan was to integrate the iPod into a glove and since there is no way to have the trigger constantly active, this seems like a failed endeavour. We agreed to continue our respective tests at home and ended the meeting after an hour and a half.
