That being said, the idea that an adopted child finding their birth heritage and using it to do good in the world is not a half bad concept, and can be applied to the average person more than traveling across the world to train for crime fighting.
Besides, if people can enjoy Spider-Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, and Iron Man movies, what's to prevent them from enjoying Superman movies just as much? Superman is powerful, but he's about even in power against Thor, and there are enemies that are challenges without even bringing Kryptonite into the equation.
Batman gets a ridiculous amount of attention from DC compared to other heroes, so it's interesting to see a show focused on a completely different hero that is equally iconic play out.
