when i first got a cane i knew nothing about them and was told nothing by my doc (like sizing) i just picked one on a whim from an antique store. now i know about sizing and it was a miracle that i got the *exact* right size first try without any prior knowledge and 3 years later still use that same cane almost every day (i love it btw)

Having a cane is great because it functions like a limb that can help support me but doesn’t require blood flow, which helps a lot in the summer months! In the winter, it’s a helpful visual reminder for ableds that I’m not going to be doing the same things they are. It also helps me feel more confident and comfortable with the possibility of self defense, since it is a metal rod literally at my fingertips

I adore my crutch!!!

I work at a call center and after sitting for so long my legs become quite stiff. Along with general pain management, it also helps me feel more stable when my legs get stiff!

Celebrating Disability Aids Because-

Without my cane, I would not be able to walk more than a few feet without the risk of falling and severely injuring myself.

With my cane? I can make it through grocery day mostly unscathed, even if I have to completely be in rest mode for 3 days after. (limited energy is still an issue, but the fall risk being mitigated is massive.)

Something so simple yet so life-changing!

I like my construction headphones and my cane (named Val for Valentine) because they allow me to go outside and feel safe. Val helps because I'm less likely to fall over (Autonomic Dysfunction), and my headphones (I need to pick a name for them) help block out painful or spooky or annoying noises (Autism).

Also, dunno if this counts as an aid, but I also got a handy lil medical necklace with all my stuff on it; which also gives me confidence in my ability to go out if I do fall or need help and can't talk. It's solid steel and very durable.

I'd consider a medical info necklace counts as an aid... Maybe a communication aid?

Celebrating disability aids because without my wheelchair, I would be bedbound! I can actually go outside! I can do things, go places, meet people. I recently was able to dress up, go out, and made a new friend :3
