Open request?! Here I go!
Could I perhaps have a Katakuri x reader where Katakuri thinks back on how they first met? She, a Baker, having her own cafe, heard just praise about her baked goods and walks in, staff and guest intimidated and she cames out greeting him like normal, a big smile and happiness in her voice, not one pinch of fear of him, talking merrily?
And then he smiles fondly at the memory, seeing her as she walks to him on their anniversary, few years later? 🥰🥰
Just had that in my head. Found it sweet fluffy fluff
So this is actually pretty fluffy... enjoy!
Warnings: shameless flirting
Glancing down at the box of pastries you’d left for him, Katakuri couldn’t help but smile behind his signature scarf. You always made sure to leave him a small treat for when he got home. Nothing big, but something that he could enjoy between lunch and his merienda, two or three ‘small’ donuts. Always with some sort of sweet message or cute decorations. Today’s message made his smile wider than usual. He’d have to do something particularly special for you today. How many years had it been now? Since the day he’d first met you? Since the day you first smiled at him.
Katakuri had been considered one of the strongest, most intimidating people in all of Totto. A man shrouded in fantastic tales and rumors, a man capable of things most people could only dream of, a man who nobody truly knew. It hadn’t even been that long since he’d put on the scarf and hidden his face, yet nobody had said a thing about this mouth, as if nobody remembered, despite how it hadn’t been that long. It had been, what, 10 years since then? Since his sister had been hurt. People feared him greatly now, enough to stay away from his family. Walking down the street, he headed for a nearby cafe. He’d heard a lot about this place lately, how good it was, how kind the owner was, not a bad thing to be said. So he’d decided to try it, decided to see what the talk was about. Stepping inside, he watched as people looked up and immediately began to slowly scoot away in fear of the tall man. He didn’t care though, this was about normal for him. People were so afraid that they didn’t dare approach him unless necessary. Walking up to the counter, he glanced at the small sign ‘ring bell for service’. Were you understaffed or something? Internally shrugging to himself, he gently pressed down on the bell, the ring sounding throughout the store. It was just a couple of seconds later that you appeared from the back, hair pulled back, cheek covered in flower, a cute apron on, and wiping your hands on a towel, clearly removing small remains of dough. The man was taller than you, that much was obvious, but you didn’t mind, you’d seen all sorts of people since reaching Totto Land. glancing up at him, you smiled, a gesture that bewildered the man.
“Greetings, sorry for keeping you waiting, what can I get for you?” you asked, looking up at him with, quite possibly one of the biggest smiles he’d ever seen. Did… did you have no fear of him? Were you not intimidated by the tall man with a harsh look in his eyes? Still, looking into your eyes, he only saw sincerity and happiness as you waited for him. After a moment, Katakuri looked down at your selection sitting in the case.
“A dozen donuts, mixed set.” he said simply, watching you bounce over to the case, quickly and easily putting a dozen donuts in the box. Setting it on a table behind the counter, you grabbed a small bag of frosting, swiftly adding something before closing the box and spinning around, setting it in front of him.
“As a new customer, I’m giving you the ‘new customer’ 50% discount!” you said with a friendly wink before leaning in a little, “And the cute guy 25% discount.” you added with a wink, bringing an immediate blush to his cheeks. Katakuri quickly handed you the money before taking the box and leaving. Almost as soon as he was out of the store, he opened the box, curious as to what you’d put on the donuts. A little smiley face was drawn on one while ‘Have a spectacular day’ was written across the others in red frosting. He could see why people talked so much about the wonderful, sweet owner. Now it was time to see if the pastries themselves were as good as he’d heard.
They were better. They were so much better than he’d expected. Enough so that he immediately wanted to hire you as one of the chateau chefs! Personally making his donuts every day for him, your delicious treats all for him. That night he’d walked in close to closing time. He didn’t ask, he said that you’d be joining the chateau chefs, that you would be working there. You giggled at him before shaking your head.
“I can’t do that. I have a wonderful bakery here that I started with my own two hands. I won’t give it up for anything! This bakery is my treasure and I won’t let anyone take it from me. But I tell you what, you can come by any time, as one of the children of Big Mom, I’m sure you’ll have no problem affording my selection.” you said, shooing him out before exiting the building yourself and locking the door. It was closing time and you had to clean up. Looking at him through the window door, you smiled at him. Another genuine, happy smile.
“Come back tomorrow, handsome, I’ll save a special batch for you.” you said through the door before starting to clean up. As much as he wanted to just kidnap you, he’d respected your wishes and let you be.
It had been the best decision of his life. Visiting the bakery, visiting you daily, eventually asking you out. You were always so kind and cheerful, always so sweet, he couldn't help but fall for you. Glancing back down at the donuts, he picked up the one that said ‘happy’ leaving the ‘anniversary’ donut for last. He already had something planned, but somehow, in the wake of your precious gift for him, it didn’t feel like enough. Nothing was ever enough when it came to you. He could give you the world and it still wouldn’t feel like he’d given you the best gift possible. Especially when you’d given him the best possible gift, your acceptance and love, despite his appearance, though you often said ‘including’ his appearance, insinuating that you weren’t at all disturbed by his mouth. He really couldn’t wait until tonight.
