5. You can’t Get Sick from the Rain - Oliver
Oliver and Nolan had been walking home from the bookstore when they started feeling small drops of rain fall onto their heads. It started out as just a teasing drizzle, but within mere seconds it became a full downpour. Then within minutes, they were thoroughly soaked to the bone.
Nolan immediately tugged his hood up and tried to steer them towards the nearest awning. “Come on, Oliver, we should wait out the rain until it lightens u–”
Oliver just laughed, loud and bright, catching Nolan’s hand instead and pulling him right back out into the downpour. His blonde hair plastered flat against his forehead, shirt plastered to his chest, not a care in the world. “You can’t get sick from the rain,” he grinned, jumping into a puddle so that the droplets exploded around them, glistening and shimmering. Nolan couldn’t help but smile at Oliver’s childish antiques. Sometimes, he was like a really excited puppy.
“That’s not–hhh, Oliver, that’s not entirely true though! What if your immune system weakens too much?” Nolan protested, though his heart wasn’t in it. The sight of Oliver so carefree, cheeks flushed from the cold, laughing at the sky–it was difficult for him to deny the joy. How could he say no?
“You worry too much,” Oliver teased, leaning down to kiss him quickly. The kiss was warm and inviting unlike the rain that enveloped their entire being.
Nolan sighed into it, nearly chasing Oliver’s lips as he pulled away to go splash around in the puddles some more. He loved the little moments in life like this.
The morning after was a little less magical.
Nolan scrunched his face up as he was waking, feeling all too hot and uncomfortable around his chest area. He became even more alert when he felt Oliver shift against his chest. At first, he thought Oliver was just readjusting because he too was hot–until a sharp, desperate gasp caught in his throat.
“hheHhH’GSHhiuuu! ehH’GKshhuuh!! hehH’hehh– hahh– hh…hehH’GKtshuu!” The fit rattled through Oliver, his whole body jerking as he muffled the sneezes into Nolan’s shirt. Now Nolan was fully awake.
“Oliver? Sweety?”
“MmmhH’AGkshuu! ahHehh’Gkshh! hH’GKShuu!!” Oliver wasn’t quite awake yet it seemed. “HAH’GKSHHUUH! ahH’GSKKSHIEWww! I-Ihmm s-so sohHh–sorryyihH’GSHiewww! hehH–ahH’DZShieeww!”
Oliver managed to wake up enough and stutter ot an apology between sneezes. He voice was thick and congested. He tried to pull away, but Nolan’s arms only tightened around him.
“Don’t apologize,” Nolan soothed, reaching for the tissues, “just work on getting all of those tickles out of your poor nose–”
Didn’t need to tell Oliver’s nose twice.
“hHhehHh’GTSHuuhhh–hehH’GDzshiiuu!! ah’GKShhuuu–shuu–hg’shhuu!” Oliver snapped forwards over and over again, half into his tissue, half still against Nolan’s chest. “I-IhHh c-can’t st-stoHhHpp–ihH’MFShhhh!! hehH’GMPFSShh! ahH’GFshhhuu!!”
Nolan rubbed firm circles into his back, murmuring blessings every time. “I’ve got you. Just get it all out. My poor baby. You’re pretty warm also…”
Oliver tried to speak again through the fit, but the impending sneezes seemed to steal them away from him. “UhhghhhH–s-sorry aHHH’DZshiuu! ehH’Mphfffshhuu! a-ahH–about your swehhehH–sweatshirt hHhH’HehH–hehH–ghhh…hehH’GTSHMPFffshh!”
“It’s okay, it’s okay, you’re fine. You’re more important than my shirt, hon.” Nolan guided another tissue to Oliver’s face, dabbing clumsily at the mess his nose was making.
Oliver whimpered, half from fever-dazed embarrassment, half from the sinus headache he was developing. Eventually, the sneezes began to taper into harsh, shivery sniffles. Oliver sagged into Nolan’s arms, drained. A soft cough escaped him as he pressed his forehead into Nolan’s chest.
Nolan stroked his damp hair out of his face, kissing his temple. “There you go. Good boy, my sweet boy. Got it all out?”
“For now,” Oliver whispered with a raspy voice, strained from all the sneezing. A few more coughs escaped him. His cheeks burned pink, fever radiating from his skin.
“My poor love,” Nolan whispered, feeling his forehead once again. “Definitely a fever. You’re not moving an inch today.”
Oliver croaked, “but work?”
“No, no, no, no work today. You’re in no condition to go to work. You can barely sit up. I’m staying home to take care of you. Just let me call to work.”
Oliver teared up, his sniffles rapidly increasing with the onset of tears.
“Oh Oli, don’t cry, it’s okay,” Nolan cooed, “you’ll also only make yourself more congested.”
Oliver melted further into Nlan’s arms, not saying anything, too tired and worn out for words. Nolan continued to whisper sweet nothings to him as he drifted back to sleep.
“Feel better, Oliver. I’ll take good care of you.”
The storm outside had quieted, each drop like a gentle drone against the window. Nolan shifted lower into the pillows, arms firm around Oliver’s fever-sick form. I’ll call work in a few minutes…
For a moment, he thought of yesterday’s rain storm, Oliver spinning and laughing like it was magical out there. He smiled to himself. Rain or shine, he wouldn’t trade a single second of their time spent together.
I made yet another OC. Like I need more, right? I’m just collecting them now
He’s Qiuniu (囚牛) heavily based off 1/9 sons of the Dragon King.
He’s now my baby (he’s thousands of years old) such a little cutie (he’s like 7 feet tall). He loves music and is a softie. But he’s also a protector.
Qiuniu is sensitive to steam (this is a little difficult around your fire breathing friends). He’s very sensitive to spices. He’s quite allergic to dust so he hates participating in annual cleaning to bring in the new year.
Pretty elf man, Guilin of the Gongsun Clan, can’t help but sneeze his heart out when he encounters dust
He was just hunting for some scrolls to learn more about herbal magic when he stumbled into a large pile of books and scrolls. Everything around him came tumbling down.
These documents have not been touched in years. So Guilin was in for a fun afternoon.
A not so clean, but still colored partially lined sketch I did to procrastinate my regular homework and current wips. He's actually been sitting in my files for 3 months now. I just now decided to give him a name and scenario lololol
also I think I improved towards a style I liked over the course of drawing them today ^^” I think there’s a difference from the first to the last oops…but yay progress is progress
Yami was the last I did…maybe I found a style I like and can keep doing…ah..we’ll see lol
I wanna show the art for the fic but separately as it's own post for my own personal housekeeping lol
This is Amo, he is a character from a long time WiP snz otome game
Mochi: okay, let’s draw some art t go along with the fic. Nice and simple sketch and maybe some flat colors.
*8 hours later....
Still not my cleanest work but I am experimenting with slightly different techniques. Also I got really carried away on the detail in his boot. The singular shoe has the most detail. I think I like drawing shiny black shoes though lol
This is the fic I drew it from: Water Lilies | Amo
